Plottr subwebsite Storysnap.ai
Plottr recently released a daughter website, storysnap.ai Storysnap reads a manuscript and backwards builds a story bible. This bible works by chapter and lists characters' inconsistencies and plot strengths and holes. My book, a novelized nonfiction account of working abroad in four countries over ten years was about 65, 000 words in 27 chapters. Storysnap did more or less what it is advertised as doing. I agreed with some of the plot holes it found and some of the character inconsistencies it found. But it looked at each chapter in isolation. It had no comment about how well succeeding chapters followed from what came earlier. In the book, I meet a woman get married and seven years later divorced. That experience was both sweet and bittersweet. Storysnap didn't understand that while I was happy at my new singleness, I was disappointed with the divorce. Similarly, storysnap didn't understand feeling excited about a new job in a foreign country and at the same time being nervous about travelling to live in a new country. Certainly cheaper than a human editor, but it won't replace a human.
