What a sordid company this is. Self-publishing is notoriously difficult but once you manage it, you can't order author copies. You should also be wary of any company that makes it impossible to simply email them with complaints and concerns. They also make it incredibly difficult to change your personal info such as email addresses. It's actually quicker and easier to close an account and then start a new one! Kdp Amazon proves that the bigger a company gets the less they care about their customers.

DO NOT USE KDP!
KDP is a scam. It’s not a matter of IF this will happen to you, it is WHEN it will happen to you. It doesn’t matter how careful you are. Don’t think you’ll escape getting robbed from this company, even if you’ve been publishing for years. They will end you. I was notified only 3 days ago about copyright concerns regarding a title I submitted. They blocked the title from ever being published, therefor it was never published and no one ever purchased the book. Cool. No biggie. That’s what a review process is for, yeah? You would think. I argue the copyright concern they plagued me with, as I do have rights to the cover, so it makes no sense as to why they flagged it, but not being able to submit that cover is the least of my concerns regarding all of this. The e-mail notifying me about the blocked title didn’t list a timeframe they needed me to respond in, and it didn’t even threaten to terminate my account if I did not respond. It is a holiday week, and so I was unable to view or respond to the e-mail notifying me about the blocked submission right then and there. They gave me a measly 2 days after sending the blocked title notification e-mail before sending another e-mail stating that my account was terminated, not suspended, TERMINATED as a result. This e-mail stated that they would be keeping ALL of my royalties, all of which absolutely did not come from any sales of the blocked title in question, that was never published. They intentionally do this to steal rightful earnings from small authors. I sent e-mails back requesting my account be reinstated and I spent hours on the phone with customer service, that I had to link with using my husband’s account because they strip you of your right to be called by phone after termination. I even spoke with a supervisor, who only informed me that he does not work in the KDP review department, that they do not have phone support, and that all he could do was let them know I need a response, which I doubt he even did. Their KDP support is based out of India with poorly trained staff who know nothing and are only told to target people and steal from them. Absolute useless trash. I was promised someone would e-mail me back in 24 hours by several of their incompetent agents. That, of course, never happened. I have heard nothing from anyone. I tried speaking to another agent over the phone, nothing but rudeness and dismissal, and again I was told to just keep waiting. Disgusting. KDP owes me somewhere around $3000 in sales. I have worked very hard to build my account and make this income, as all of us do. Of course, Amazon Ads still wants me to pay for the advertisements without KDP paying me my royalties. HA. I have reached out to the advertising department and told them I will be disputing any further charges from them. Idc. Amazon is an atrocious company built from Jeff Bezos’ sociopathic morals. I was really relying on my royalties. Nearly $1000 of that was supposed to be paid to me in just a few days. I have no idea if that will show up in my account now. It makes no sense that I cannot still receive the royalties I made on all the titles of no concern. This is absolute robbery. Do not use KDP. You’ve been warned.

Worst customer service I've ever known.
Getting a book out is easy enough if you take the time to read things. But DO NOT make a mistake!
I made a simple mistake that meant I couldn't be paid. All I got from them was a constant stream of emails telling me to update my banking details. Day after day after day. I had to threaten them with legal action before anyone decided to tell me what the problem was. But even then they messed up, saying only that the problem was my name and that I should send some ID. It wasn't until I had got angry with several different people that someone finally mentioned what I had done wrong, and the next sentence was to tell me not to respond to any more of their emails!! Apparently they like being rude and causing problems, but don't like being responded to.
So, really not the best customer service I've come across! The words Unhelpful, Rude, Nasty and Incompetent, come to mind.
As for getting author copies, forget it. So far I've only managed to get two. Every time I try to order more I'm told they cannot be delivered to any of the addresses I usually use for Amazon's deliveries.

Thank you to all the brave reviewers on KDP. I believe you! I don't believe at least 50 percent of the questionable good reviewers the bad ones no doubt making a tiny profit off trashing the big dreams of creative people.

Be Very careful! KDP will get their profits in legal but very, very immoral ways!
I published an adult coloring book in 2018 signing a contract with Createspace. I made very little profit because my book was pushed back as far as 8 pages when ppl searched for it. After the original contract expired, KDP took over the contract and I LOST ALL ACCESS to my book. It is now showing up on Amazon, Google, Barnes & Nobles & Walmart 1st when searched for. I had contacted Kendall several times and was not allowed access to my bookshelf or book. When I finally threatened legal action they blocked me. You can find the book it is being sold someone’s making profit but I haven’t seen a penny. Don’t use Kendall unless you got a good lawyer!

I have published a book and it in my first week I sold a few copies, but no sales show on my account. Amazon takes the profits and does not compensate you for it.
I have contacted customer service and now several days later no response. I may pull the book and sell through other sources.
Amazon sells your books and takes the profits!

Hi I am a 68 year old
Hi I am a 68 year old, who spends a great deal of his time shouting at the computer, and it was no different when using KDP.
I was brought up in a time when you just sent your illustrations to the printer and he did the rest, but this is self publishing. So you have to do all the formatting etc. yourself, and initially you are talking to a machine, and unless you do as it wants it doesn't work (shouting doesn't help.)
After several attempts I finally got the book printed, and I very pleased how it turned out.
Amazon have allowed me to see my work in print at their expense, you could argue that they are hoping to make money out of it, but as several publishers have turned it down chances are they won't.
I'd just like to thank Amazon for making me a published author. with 10 books sold not quite J.K. Rowling but I'm still in print.

Terrible Customer service!
Terrible Customer service!
I was having a low-content book series. Blank notebooks, with fancy covers. No content
I've indeed received an email that I had a similar title with another book. So I've adjusted the title. Still, my account was terminated. The funny thing is, 1st, there was no warning that my account will be terminated, 2nd, I receive an email for account termination 3rd, after 4 hours the account was terminated, I receive an email to take an action and change my title. All emails were sent on Saturday evening, which of course I was able to see on Monday.
After sending multiple requests to the support team, their response was always the same, there were copy-pasting it, no one actually read what I was writing.
After a week, they've replied that they will no longer be responding to my requests.
