Bad Customer service, unethical practices, worthless warranty
This company has earned a terrible reputation for customer service for a reason. They make getting returns or repairs impossible through communications systems designed not to work so customers give up. EGO has specific batteries and tools, especially the "power head" that are known to have manfucturing defects and they will not admit the problem or help customers. the 5 year warranty is meaningless. I'm out $400 on equipment that worked less than 15 hours.

I spent close to $5,000 at RONA…
I spent close to $5,000 at RONA purchasing two EGO 2-stage snowblowers and a total of eight 10Ah batteries. Like any responsible buyer, I registered everything with EGO Power+ using the receipts provided, and my warranty was confirmed for 5 years.
At the time, I had zero reason to question anything. EGO reviewed my documentation, approved it, and confirmed my warranty. From a customer standpoint, that should have been the end of it.
Fast forward two years — two of the batteries have failed, and EGO has already confirmed they are defective. These batteries cost around $650 each, so this is not a minor issue.
Here’s the real problem:
EGO is now refusing to honor the warranty unless I provide an itemized receipt — despite the fact that they already reviewed and approved my proof of purchase at the time of registration.
Let’s be clear:
If there was an issue with my receipt, that should have been flagged when I registered the products — not two years later when I actually need support.
Instead, EGO is shifting the responsibility back onto the customer and hiding behind a technicality they themselves overlooked.
I’ve made every effort to retrieve an itemized receipt from RONA, including over 20 calls and email threads with both the Oakville store and head office — with no success. But at the end of the day, that should not excuse EGO from standing behind a warranty they already validated.
Result: EGO has confirmed the product is defective, confirmed the warranty at registration, and is still refusing to honor it.
No alternatives. No escalation. No accountability.
I’ve simply been told the issue “is not in EGO’s hands,” which makes no sense considering this is their warranty and their product.
This is where EGO completely fails.
A warranty is only as good as the company backing it — and in this case, EGO approved my claim upfront, waited until there was an actual issue, and then changed the rules.
As a customer, I did everything right. EGO did not.
If this is how warranty claims are handled, I would strongly reconsider investing in EGO products — because when something goes wrong, you may be left covering the cost yourself, even when you followed their process exactly.

Battery Failure and Lack of Warranty Support. Stick with Gas!
I purchased an EGO ARC Lithium 56V 5.0Ah blower kit because I wanted a cleaner, quieter alternative to gas. Unfortunately, the battery failed just three months after the 3‑year warranty expired. The symptoms included sudden shutdowns, flashing red lights, and long cooldown periods before it would restart. I also noticed the battery becoming warm and flashing red days after charging, which is concerning.
The replacement cost of $329 is higher than what I paid for the entire blower/battery/charger bundle. That pricing structure makes long‑term ownership difficult to justify.
Customer support was disappointing. After waiting more than two hours on the phone, I was told to contact the retailer. The retailer then directed me back to EGO because I was outside their 90‑day return window. Neither party offered a solution.
EGO tools perform well when they work, but the combination of high battery replacement costs and poor support makes it hard to recommend them. For many homeowners, gas equipment remains the more economical choice.

EGO spouts off how good their products…
EGO spouts off how good their products are. In truth, they are garbage. Their run times are false, the customer service is terrible. They are overpriced Chinese crap.

Crappy customer Service!
I have a warranty issue on a mower that just stopped working for no reason. I spoke to customer service and they needed a receipt attached to an email. When I sent it they wrote back and said the case was closed. I have called SEVERAL times and have not received a call back or been able to speak to anyone!

EGO not standing behind their brand.
I bought an EGO leaf blower on 2/25; by 3/26, it stopped working; I had registered the leaf blower with EGO 2/25, and given a 5 year warranty; I contacted EGO, and was told that my leaf blower is not covered because I bought from Amazon, 3 rd party and EGO does not warranty tools not bought by their dealers; this is horrible warranty; I was never told this up front; so now I have a useless leaf blower that I bought thinking the company, EGO, would stand behind their tools, no matter where I bought it; this tool was new.

DO NOT BUY EGO BATTERY OPERATED PRODUCTS!!!!
DO NOT BUY EGO. No reply. No answer. Online waiting time at this point has been over an hour two different days. I bought an EGO lawnmower 8 months ago. Heading into spring and summer now, the battery is completely inoperable. I have tried their "chat" option as well. The chat option offered to have my call returned. I AM STILL WAITING three days later. This is literally the WORST customer service encountered!
