I’ve used Moultrie products for many…
I’ve used Moultrie products for many years, and I would consider myself a very serious hunter. I’ve owned and used a number of their green plastic feeders with the snap-on lids, and for the most part, I’ve always liked them. They’re lightweight, easy to disassemble, and easy to move from one area of our property to another. For hunters who relocate feeders depending on season, activity, or hunting pressure, that’s a real advantage. The one weakness we’ve consistently dealt with is the lid. Squirrels can damage them, but until now, that was never a major problem because you could simply order a replacement lid for around $20 and keep using an otherwise perfectly good feeder. Apparently, that is no longer the case. Moultrie now seems to have stopped stocking replacement lids for these feeders. That means a customer with a perfectly functional feeder and a damaged plastic lid is essentially being told to buy an entirely new feeder just to replace one inexpensive part. That is incredibly disappointing, and frankly, insulting to the hunting community. What makes it worse is the timing. This has happened right as hunters are preparing for hunting season, when feeders are being put back into service and replacement parts are needed most. It leaves longtime customers backed into a corner with very few options. A company that truly understands hunters should understand that we repair equipment, reuse equipment, and expect to be able to replace basic wear-and-tear parts. We shouldn’t have to throw away an entire feeder because a squirrel damaged the lid. I’ve supported Moultrie for years, which is exactly why this is so disappointing. This feels less like a company supporting hunters and more like a corporation deciding it can make more money by forcing customers to replace perfectly usable equipment. Moultrie can do better than this, and longtime customers deserve better.
