DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM
DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM I'd like to start by saying it was my 72nd birthday weekend, and we were excited and had been planning this for months. The home was nice. The first issue was that the Wi-Fi instructions were incorrect. I called the office and explained that the Wi-Fi listed in the instructions was not available. The lady tried to help but could not. Finally, my grandson showed up and looked for the router; it was hidden away. He figured it out for us. Once we resolved that issue, we went to cook, but neither the oven nor the stove would turn on. We had ordered $500 worth of food to prepare during our stay and to celebrate my birthday. I called for that; they told me they would send out maintenance the next day. Again, my grandson looked around and figured out the breaker was turned off for the oven and stove. He turned them on. The oven then started beeping loudly and would not stop. My grandson tried to reset it, but the oven continued indicating that the door was locked. We tried using only the stovetop, but the oven had to remain on for the stovetop to work, so the beeping continued throughout our stay. The stovetop was an induction cooktop, which I had never used before, and most of the pans provided in the cabin were not induction compatible. Again, my grandson figured out how to use it. In the future, please let guests know that the cabin has an induction cooktop and that only compatible pans can be used. I also suggest removing the eight non-compatible pans. Maintenance arrived the next day after several calls, and we had left. We went out for breakfast, even though we had planned to eat at the cabin; when we returned, it was still beeping. We called again and were told it could not be fixed, and they offered to move us to another cabin. I declined because eight people were already settled in, we had flown in, had a large food delivery, and had two rental vehicles, so moving everything would have been a major inconvenience. I asked instead for a discount or other compensation, and I was told management would call me back. That was Saturday, October 3. When no one called, I followed up and was told that a callback request was already in the system. I received no call on Sunday, so I followed up again and was told that a request for someone to call me back was in the system. The same thing happened on Monday. On Tuesday, when we checked out, I called again and received the same response. On Wednesday, I called once more and was told there was no note requesting a callback; the only note stated that I was okay with using the stovetop only. That was not the case. We were very disappointed. I paid $1,800 for a cabin that was supposed to provide a fun family getaway, but the experience became extremely frustrating. We had to eat out more often than planned and throw away a significant amount of food because we could not take it on the plane. As of today, I am still waiting for a callback. My grandson also pointed out that the oven's breaker had already been turned off, suggesting the problem may have been known before our arrival. If so, this should have been disclosed to us. We would have chosen a different cabin because preparing and sharing family meals was an important part of our trip. I plan to share this review on every review site I can find, including Facebook. This is not about compensation; it is about the lack of honesty and transparency in how this situation was handled. The Cabin we stayed in was Sweet Mountain, Dorrie Wise
