Problems with machine. Company gives no help just charges you.

There need to be a better way for us to be able to prevent unnecessary codes, because the fees are becoming extremely expensive

Their devices don't work properly. I've had the device for a little under a month, and I've gotten false readings, and even my boyfriend got one and he does not drink. I paid $45 to reset the thing even though I committed no real violations. And I avoided anything with alcohol like mouthwash, sanitizers, etc. So, I thought I'd just avoid driving for a year, but it drains my battery, and now I have to drive. You can't win because now I have to charge my battery every single day for it to start. The brand new battery has died at least 2 dozen times now. I would advise anyone to avoid this company. I don't see how I can take 11 more months of this nightmare. Update: The company replied and I am absolutely not satisfied. My battery is brand new, and I adhered to all of the guidelines in the video: no sanitizers, etc. I'm going to have to check into switching companies. I passed the test, then drove across the street to get groceries, then failed the test. And it's happened again since then.

We appreciate your feedback and understand your concerns. All Ignition Interlock Device (IID) settings are dictated by state regulations. Please note that the IID will register any trace of alcohol from any source containing it - this is how the device effectively ensures an impaired individual is not able to start a vehicle, and how we are able to confidently state the Monitech ignition interlock is fulfilling its purpose. Vehicle battery problems are not usually related to the interlock device, although the timing of a battery problem can make it seem that way. All vehicles use some amount of battery when the car is shut off. For example, an onboard clock always shows the correct time because it is drawing battery current even when the vehicle is not in use. Aftermarket accessories add to the total battery load of the vehicle. An interlock is an aftermarket accessory, and draws less than 5 milliamps of battery per hour. A battery more than 4 years old, or a battery used infrequently, in colder temperatures or in situations when the vehicle's basic amp load is high may drain more quickly. If your alternator is not fully charging the battery when the vehicle is in use, battery problems can result. Check your vehicle user manual to determine how much amperage is being used on a baseline for your vehicle. Your authorized service provider will be able to test your battery and ensure it is capable of handling the total load.
Just starting out with a long year ahead. The telephone wait times are horrid and it's impossible to even speak to your local technician prior to an appointment. Some of monitech's employees seem to feel as if they are an extension of the judicial system and not a service provider of a service you are paying dearly for. The install however was pretty painless and free although the instruction felt more like there was a need to induce fear than ensure you had a strong understanding of how the interlock worked.
