My knives are in much better condition - they are sharper, and the poor job that a previous sharpener did at a different company has mostly been corrected. It seems like some knives are sharper than others, but on the whole, they're all quite good. There was a bit of confusion upon pick up because my name was not on the knives, but in the end it was resolved.

Spent a lot for my 8-10 knives and then sharpened them poorly for 10-20 years. Just had Local Root sharpen them and my mind is blown by the difference. It's been so long that I forgot what a sharp knife can do for you. Get your knives sharpened people...

Two day turnaround, knives are SHARP, they come back in a little cradle to protect them going forward, service is easy and fast, couldn't be better. I will be taking all my other knives there after Christmas!

I brought four old carbon-steel knives to Local Root for sharpening. I'd had them for 30-40 years and had managed to keep the acceptably sharp, but not really, really sharp. So when Local Root sent an email announcing their knife-sharpening service, I figured it was time. They told me that knives brought in on Tuesday would be ready to pick up on Thursday, and they were. My four knives, brought to the store wrapped in ratty newspaper, were now in nice, thick knife sleeves. Best of all, they were sharp and gleaming. Really sharp. Sharp enough to carve the Thanksgiving turkey easily, to separate the breast meat from the carcass, and to do myriad other cooking chores. They're all a pleasure to use, and I know I'll be able to keep them that way just by bringing them back for a touch-up.

Over the years, we've taken our knives to a variety of places advertising they do professional knife sharpening, and we were never satisfied with the results. (Some I think came back to us even duller!) Prior to Thanksgiving, I took 3 knives to the Local Root store in Newton, and a few days later they were ready for pick up. The knives were all like brand new! Local Root did a truly professional sharpening job on these knives, and we'll be taking all our knives there in the future.
