WARRANTY NOT HONOURED
On September 26, 2021, I purchased a new EGO snow blower, Model SNT2102 and registered it immediately. The first winter everything worked great. The second winter (2022-23) one of the 5.0AH batteries failed. No problem, it was replaced under warranty. The third winter (2024-25) the second 5.0AH battery failed but warranty ended in September. EGO service people said there was nothing they could do, I understood, the warranty ran out three months prior. The replacement EGO battery listed for $400. plus but I found an equivalent replacement battery at half the price on Mar. 15/25. The battery worked great. Winter of 2026 and everything was working good until the blower quit. I let the blower sit to cool off and tried to start it. It tried a couple of times but would not start. I contacted EGO customer support and got a response on Feb. 21/26. They told me to take it to a local repair shop which I did. When I took the blower and 2 batteries to the repair shop (Feb. 23/26) they said that EGO would not honour the warranty because I used a battery that wasn't made by EGO. That was the first time I had heard that. On Mar.2/26 I picked the blower up. The repair shop did not tell me why the blower stopped working. They could not tell me if the battery was the problem and they did not find anything wrong with the battery. I checked the battery and it is still working. On Mar. 4/26 I called EGO customer service and they promised to get back to me. After numerous attempts, I finally got to talk to a service person. He told me that because I used an after market battery the warranty is void. I asked him to show me where in the manual's warranty wording it stated that, if I used an after market battery that it would void the warranty – he could not. We talked for a while until he said something like – I will send your request up the line for their review and call you back with their decision. On Mar. 12/26, since I had not heard from them, I called and was told my request had been denied and the warranty would not be honoured.
