Offer items for sale, then when they are purchased, send you a message saying the item is not available. For my inconvienence, they give me a code for free shipping - whoppee😒 Not good customer service in my opinion

I have had good experiences with help.

It started great, I love getting my box every month. It's my self pampering, and I enjoy it. But the last few boxes have been disastrous, and I'm Disappointed. The customer service center is excellent, swift, prompt, and informative. And they always go above and beyond to make the situation right. I understand, the samples are just that, samples, but I enjoy the sense of self indulgence that goes along with this experience.

I really love the points for reviews and the fact that they can be combined with promo codes for great savings on a lot of my favorite brands. I have had a few issues with shipping over the last few years and while birchbox used to address these things swiftly and attentively, I have taken a hit twice in the last few months. Twice I had to toss full size orders without any replacement when I let them know their packaging was not adequate and my products spilled. I am sticking with them until January having just placed (but not yet received!) my first full size order since the last incident.

I enjoy receiving new products each month to try. With BB I wish there was more product to try in the samples. Over this past year I have received more mascara then what I could use & unfortunately the product dries up! I can only ask for more variety & a higher grade to the sampling 😊

I have ordered 2 full size orders from birchbox so far and in both orders some of the products were damaged. I could still use them but they were dented.

Birchbox, as a beauty platform in the vein of Sephora and Blue Mercury, is excellent. Good variety, names across different levels (from those targeting makeup/hair/fragrance beginners to medically-tested professional products), a good range of prices, and generally very user-friendly. Shipping is seamless, customer service is perfectly fine, returns are a bit of a pain - but no more so than anywhere else. The absolute failure - and the thing that prevents Birchbox from getting 4 or 5 stars and made me SERIOUSLY contemplate giving it 2 stars - is precisely what they advertise. The monthly Birchbox has been consistently a disappointment. Regardless of my ratings, regardless of my listed preferences, I consistently (as in EVERY SINGLE MONTH) received items that I had expressed ACTIVE disinterest in (i.e. fragrances), received products that were inappropriate for my preferences (i.e. a product for oily skin when I have dry, sensitive skin), and multiple times did not receive products that I was slated to receive. All in all, the website is fine, but Birchbox as a monthly subscription packet served me as a complete and utter failure.
