Do not use !! I paid my bill on time but couldn't use the autopay and now I am being forced to to pay at a local store for the next 6 months. They will not take a payment over the phone even when I am trying to pay ahead of time. BEWARE!!! do not use these people. Customer service is not helpful at all. They told me I could pay at Wal Mart. I went to Wal Mart and Wal Mart said they couldn't help me.

I would not recommend 4Change Energy. I signed up because the plan was advertised at an average rate of 7.7¢ per kWh, but my bill showed an energy charge closer to 15¢ per kWh before a conditional bill credit was applied. In my opinion, the advertising is misleading because the lower “average” rate is what stands out, while the actual energy charge, bill-credit requirements, and CenterPoint Energy TDU delivery charges ($108 this month) are not clearly explained upfront. I understand TDU charges may be passed through, but they significantly increase the total bill, and the full cost of the plan was not communicated in a way the average consumer could easily understand before enrolling. Had I known this, I would not have switched providers. Consumers should read every detail and not rely only on the advertised average rate.

They penalize and fee the shit out of you for a declined transaction. Which they consider a (returned payment). The bill is due inconsistent days of the month..so unless you check it online every month you have no idea when the bill is due. Sorry but I'm to busy working to pay for electricity. and how does a debt card transaction get returned.. it a simple transaction process like swiping your card at a store. Except they charge $50+. If you have 3 declines ever, you can no longer pay your bill online or on the phone. How extremely stupid. You having a hard time paying your bill..guess what we are gonna make it harder. Horrible company procedure. Every time the auto pay (I set up) would get declined. I'm getting paid 2 hours later. So ridiculous. My insurance company runs my auto pay...if it gets declined they try again before end of the day. And guess what even if it's declined the 2nd time they don't charge a fee cuz of it. So that tells me 4change is just greedy company that prey on lower income families. Absolutely can't stand companies that take advantage of the poor. Cuz let's be real that's exactly what it is. Bet if you did a graph chart showing the household income compared to the money they collect. .the lower the income the more money they suck. Pathetic

I moved out of my apartment on April 21, 2026. The apartment complex informed me that the unit had already been leased to a new tenant for May, so I could not extend my lease. When I received a final bill from 4Change Energy, I disputed the charges because I no longer lived at the property. After their investigation, I was told that because I never specifically called to disconnect service, my account automatically continued on a month-to-month basis and I remained responsible for electricity charges through May 21, when another customer allegedly took over the account. What concerns me is that 4Change could not clearly explain why I was being billed for power at a residence I no longer occupied for an entire month, despite a new tenant apparently being scheduled to move in. They also provided inconsistent explanations regarding the final charges on the account and were unable to give me confidence that the billing was accurate. If you move, do not assume your service will end when your lease ends or when your contract term expires. Make sure you explicitly request a disconnect and obtain written confirmation. I learned that lesson the expensive way. Based on my experience, I would not choose 4Change Energy again.

Our records indicate that service at the address remained active after your move-out date because we did not receive a request to disconnect service. Under the terms of service, an account remains the responsibility of the account holder until a disconnect request is received or service is transferred to another customer. Moving out of a residence or the expiration of a lease does not automatically terminate electric service. We strive to provide clear and accurate billing information, and we regret that your experience did not meet those expectations. Raise price from $110 to $189. My last bill was $300, and I had a $200 cancellation fee. The Customer service rep I spoke to told me it's because I am under contract.

Horrible company. bogus fees customer service don’t care. Can’t wait to get out of the contract. If it seems to good to be true they are! Have received the $100 credit money because I’m not using enough electricity been at thr same house 5 years always use over 1000 kw which is how you get the credit. Now all of a sudden I’m using under 1000 I’m “using” less electricity and my bills higher! It’s a scam I always average over 1500 kw with other company!

One star is a way to much for this company. I should have read reviews here first. $100 credit was not paid, because they counted one day less from billing circle. They charge me $20 for early termination, despite the fact, that they can't do it one week before contract ended (Texas law). They are not show since recently daily usage on their website, just to avoid paying $100 credit, also. Never ever I will go back to their service!
