Dog walker canceled and did not show up - not the app issue, but people do not do what they say

I was a pet sitter/ pet walker for…
I was a pet sitter/ pet walker for Rover. I truly enjoyed watching cats and walking dogs. It showed me that folks really care about their pets.
But Rover didn’t pay me, I don’t have their app, and if you get a recurring assignment without the app they will not pay a person for work performed.
When you call them to take care of an issue, you get what appears to be an overseas call center. If you E-mail them about an issue someone will respond, but making progress on anything and moving ahead is not very doable.
Rover are not honest players, not the good guys from my experience. A company to avoid!

Hi, Mike. We’re sorry for the frustration with your payment. For recurring visits without a Rover Card, we send an “Action required to receive your payment” email to confirm care was provided. If there’s no reply within a week, the client is automatically refunded. Please call our support team at 888-453-7889 and we'd be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding your payment. -LJ
Didn't get any client
Didn't get any client
I live in Paris, and have experience with dogs. I had to pay to create my sitter account, took the time to ask for testimonials, added some pictures and everything
Didn't get a single job offer.
Just lost some money and time.

ROVER precaution
I have used ROVER twice and both experiences haven't been 5 star. First experience my dog was dropped off at a strangers house and I had to cut my travel plans short to pick her up then was given the wrong dog on arrival etc. The second experience, the sitter was not as inviting upon drop off and not as communicative throughout the booking as promised and my dog's belongings came back torn and she smelled really bad even though we took her to the groomers the day of drop off and it was only a 3-day stay. I had to spend additional money to have her bathed again and washed her bed etc.

Repeated Cancellations and Broken Agreements—We’ve Moved On
Our experience with pet sitters through Rover has been disappointing, particularly regarding reliability, communication, agreed-upon care, and respect for our home.
We travel frequently, so reliable, long-term availability is a key topic when we interview sitters. We have a lap dog and a quiet, independent cat, and we explain their needs and our expectations before hiring anyone so they can decide whether the arrangement is a good fit.
We recently interviewed a sitter who assured us that pet sitting was her full-time job and that she would be available on an ongoing basis. Based on those assurances, we hired her and booked our upcoming trips, confident that we had dependable care arranged. After one stay, everything seemed fine. About a week later, however, she canceled all future dates, explaining that she had accepted a new job and was no longer pet sitting.
With another sitter, we experienced different problems. She brought her husband into our home without our permission, repeatedly requested additional charges, and during a holiday booking left our pet alone longer than agreed on multiple occasions. Her frequent photo and video updates gave us the impression that she was spending the agreed-upon time with our pets. We later discovered through our Ring camera that her absences extended hours beyond the agreed limit. The updates had given us a misleading picture of the care being provided.
We have also experienced repeated delays in communication with several sitters. Despite choosing sitters with five-star ratings, we have often been left waiting for responses when trying to confirm arrangements or discuss care. Timely communication matters when someone is responsible for our pets and our home.
These experiences have left us scrambling to find trustworthy care, caused us to cancel travel plans, and resulted in financial losses. We understand that circumstances can change, but accurate communication about availability, honoring care arrangements, and obtaining permission before bringing someone into our home are reasonable expectations.
After several disappointing experiences, we have moved on to other platforms in search of dependable care. Rover did not provide the peace of mind we hoped to find.

Hard no in the fees!!
The sitter I had was amazing but Rover charges a percentage fee on top of the booking fee. The sitter only gets half of the booking fee.

First and last time using Rover.com
This was my first experience with rover.com and my pup came back with an eye infection, disheveled, and crusty. The apartment was dark and the sitter wasn’t very talkative at drop off. I felt like the reviews didn’t match the experience. I wasn’t told that my dog would be exposed to other dogs until I reported the infection. I will never use Rover.con again.

The Rover App Is Annoying
The Rover is good. The amount of emails and notifications is absolutely insane how many you all send.
