Reliant doesn’t appear to honor its own cancellation terms
I signed up for a Reliant Energy plan for a property I never moved into. I canceled the plan and provided the documents required under my agreement to support waiving the cancellation fee. Reliant continues to pursue me for that fee anyway. Reliant’s public policy says an early cancellation fee “may be avoided” with notice of a move and applicable supporting evidence. I followed the documentation process laid out for my situation. Based on how Reliant has handled my account, its cancellation terms feel meaningless: they tell customers how to seek a waiver, then keep demanding payment after the documents are submitted. The repeated contact has been relentless and unacceptable. Consumers should think twice before trusting Reliant’s cancellation promises. If Reliant believes I don’t qualify, it should explain exactly why under my contract instead of continuing to pursue the fee.
