We do want to clarify that cancellations are entirely customer-initiated on our end -- they aren't something our team starts on its own. Hello, SSH is the recommended primary method of accessing and managing your VPS -- VNC is really intended for out-of-band access, such as installing a custom OS, recovering from a misconfigured firewall, or regaining access if you've locked yourself out of SSH (such as if you misconfigured your sshd configuration file). A VNC console is a direct connection into your server's display -- it is not intended as a means to download packages, nor does connectivity within VNC reflect anything related to our network or service delivery. From what you're describing, this sounds like it could be a DNS misconfiguration issue within your OS level. Could you check what your /etc/resolv.conf file contains? Try updating that to nameserver 8.8.8.8 and nameserver 8.8.4.4 (Google DNS) and see if that resolves the issue. By the way, we weren't able to locate an account or ticket under the name associated with this review. Hello, We went through tickets received today and don't see an experience matching what you're describing here. Your name "Cc" on Trustpilot also makes it difficult for us to associate this review with an actual ticket or account. You mentioned the server became inaccessible after a reboot, but all VPS customers have full access to the HTML5 VNC console via the SolusVM control panel, which allows you to see exactly what's happening during boot, even if network access is down or was misconfigured on the OS side. Did you try using VNC to see what error the server was throwing? There's also rescue mode available directly in your SolusVM control panel, which can help retrieve data and/or fix any misconfigurations on the OS side without having to reinstall. Hi there, I sincerely apologize for the frustration you experienced. Generally, tickets are responded to very quickly 24x7, with our average response time under 20 minutes. Though I'm assuming (from the sounds of it) this was a billing related matter, which is likely why there was a delay, as the billing department operates M-F during normal business hours. The support department though, is 24x7. Do you have a ticket ID that we can review, so we can shed more light on this matter? By the way, without yet knowing the specifics of your case, I will say that we're always happy to work with customers on payment extensions, though we do need to hear from you before the due date. Hi DS -- thanks for sharing your feedback. Just to clarify, with our Windows VPS product line - we fully support Windows Server 2022 (which we recommend for modern compatibility). Customers can also select Windows Server 2012, 2016, or 2022 during order — or reinstall/switch versions anytime via the SolusVM control panel. Here’s a short how-to video for reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jy8Q3s3uXlk While we agree that Windows Server 2016 (and previous versions) are becoming outdated, it’s still available for those who specifically choose it, as some applications or legacy environments still rely on it. In other words, you do not have to use 2016 if you do not want to. Regarding your billing situation, after further review of your account history, our billing system sent multiple payment reminders between September 27 and October 19, including a suspension notice on October 13 — so the claim of “no warning” isn’t accurate (in fact, you had over a dozen warnings/emails according to the email history log). The service was automatically terminated by the system once the overdue grace period elapsed, with no manual action taken by staff. We’re always open to working with customers who reach out and communicate their needs/intentions -- communication goes a long way, and had we known you needed more time to make payment, we would have gladly extended the due date. Autopay is also optionally available by saving a card on file and setting the payment method on the service to credit card, if desired. If you’d like to continue service with us, we’d be happy to help set up a new server and work with you personally to ensure smooth continuity moving forward.
