PineTales® - The Buckwheat Pillow ExpertsReviews of pinetales.com

I have had issues with pillows for years before finding pintails. The buckwheat is the ONLY pillow I will ever use going forward, as it contours and supports my neck and does not cause allergies. I have had the same pillow from pine tales for a few years now since the pillow case is washable, and just now am deciding to get a new one due to the loft decreasing and being with out more fill. Quality product from a great company!

After trying to sleep with this pillow for a week I just can't do it, it's uncomfortable and no matter how much I adjust the buckwheat filling it doesn't hold shape (which is a claim in the description) and it feels like sleeping on a brick! I reached out to the company but all they responded with was dry uncaring responses about their no return policy and that it's unhygienic to take the pillows back. Considering these pills are made primarily from a natural material which could be exchanged out for likely pennies and the pillow case probably costs $10-$15 max, they're making a huge profit off these pillows and should be able to accept returns for customers who have issues with this type of pillow. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE WOULD NOT RECOMMEND buying from them to anyone.

It is a high quality product. I bought mine for travel and like that I can customize it by taking out as much buckwheat as I would like to make it as soft and manageable as I like. I love options. This is a great travel pillow. With a cover on the outside with a handle to attach to my carryon. And 2 zippers on the pillow itself inside.

I've bought 3 of these pillows in the last 5 years, for myself and two other people. We all love our buckwheat pillow and use it every night! We all have the 14" x 20" "Japanese style" size. Each one has had pillow cases that hold up extremely well with daily use. I highly recommend finding linen pillow cases if you a want slightly improved cooling effect. The buckwheat hulls look, feel, and smell clean. They claim the buckwheat is organic, and I view that as a positive because I do not want pesticide residue left on the hulls and then lay my head/face on them for years. The bag they include for storing your extra hulls is also sturdy and it's nice that their logo is on the side so it can be better identified when looking for it in my drawers/storage. The 14" x 20" works alright for travel, but it can take up a decent amount of space (depending on which luggage/backpack I use, it takes up ~1/4-1/2 the space. I have some large backpacks and a medium-sized suitcase. It would fit with lots of extra room in a larger suitcase.). Next I'm considering getting a travel-sized one for myself and everyone else. After I started using this style of pillow, I miss it whenever I go without it.

I am a chiropractor with over 25 years of experience using and recommending Japanese-style buckwheat hull pillows. Historically, I sourced these pillows from a small, family-owned company known for producing high-quality, authentic makura (Japanese pillows). However, following recent pandemic disruptions, I was disheartened to learn that my previous supplier had ceased operations. In search of a suitable alternative, I chose a pillow from Pinetales because their website indicated it closely aligned with my requirements. Their commitment to high-quality materials and craftsmanship was evident. Pinetales delivered excellent results: the pillow is therapeutically as effective as any I have used, with superior materials and workmanship. It also has a pleasing aesthetic that complements any sleeping setup, particularly when used with a fukibuton (a Japanese tatami floor futon mattress). I have no need for any further search - I have found the perfect successor and can confidently recommend these pillows to my patients, friends, and family alike.

I've been using a millet pillow for 30 years and will never go back to any other pillow, no matter the cost. The company I had previously purchased from is no longer in business. As I did my due diligence I discovered PineTales and I am so glad I did. From the ordering process to using their pillow for the first time I was overwhelmed with how wonderful the pillow was. Thank You!

I ordered the small knee pillow and it’s just what I was looking for. I actually bought it to use it under my arm and it’s the perfect size. I have used micro bead pillows for years and they always ripped. Plus, I didn’t like the idea of having that material so close to my face all night every night. Same for memory foam (which is far too hard anyway). This pillow is lovely. The cover is soft and the filling is adjustable. I love that I can remove the cover to wash it. It is a bit pricey, but the fabric feels like great quality and should last me a very long time!

The best pillow I've ever had. It has great head, neck and shoulder support. Easily adjusted by adding or removing husks or simply moving the husks around for comfort. PineTales customer services is amazing!
