The product is good but Canadians beware

This is the third Field Guard I've ordered from OutFox (my dog is a lab who eventually manages to chew through the mesh in her quest to eat anything organic or even inorganic. The product is good. My issue is that the carrier (UPS) charged me $36.95 (Canadian) which is roughly $27.00 US.—that is over 1/3 the price of the Field Guard. This is a common complaint in Canada when items are being shipped using UPS from the US... it is a bit of an inflated cash grab that none of UPS's competitors seem to practice. As indicated by the response to my review, indeed there is a way to choose the carrier. Choose wisely.

Hi Jen, Thank you for your feedback—and we truly appreciate your continued support as a returning customer. We’re really glad to hear the product itself met your expectations, but we completely understand how frustrating unexpected carrier fees can be. We want to clarify that the additional charges you experienced are not set or collected by us. For international shipments (including to Canada), carriers like UPS may apply brokerage fees, duties, and taxes upon delivery, which are determined by the carrier and your country’s import regulations—not by OutFox. To help customers avoid surprises, we do include this information on our website under our International Orders policy, and we also offer multiple shipping options at checkout, including USPS and DHL. These alternatives often have different fee structures, and many customers choose them specifically to minimize brokerage charges. In your case, UPS was selected during checkout, and unfortunately, their brokerage fees into Canada are known to be higher than some other carriers. That said, we truly value your feedback—it’s helpful and something we continuously take into account as we evaluate shipping options for our customers. We’d love the opportunity to assist you with future orders and help you choose the most cost-effective shipping method. Thank you again for your support and for bringing this to our attention.
