Not the best quality control. Prices have increased but it seems that panels do still ship without proper inspection of the printing quality and registration. Metals do have blemishes in the form of nicks and scratches from time to time. These issues have caused unwanted delays and unsatisfactory results. Quality is decent when the product is without defects - still a bit expensive these days, however.

We have several parts that are made by Metalphoto that always have to be returned for quality issues. Everything from missing ink to spots showing up from "dirt". We have worked with Metalphoto repeatedly with inconsistent results.

Let me start off with the positive stuff by saying that MPC's customer service people, personnel and team are great to work with! They also have a very wide variety of products and processes available. Their artwork and production team seem very knowledgeable on their job. Now, the sore spots: and this is why I am giving a 3 star review instead of 5 - the quality control is very spotty. It has been years that we've been told that they are trying to improve this, but nevertheless the fact remains that in an average order, 20% or more of the metalphoto frontpanels we receive have cosmetic problems (probably due to processes such as production handling, packaging, or errors made during production - it varies from batch to batch). While they do make every effort to correct and replace/re-make damaged and refused frontpanels, the time and consumption of resources to sort that out is extremely costly and detrimental to any production planning. We have to manually sort through hundreds/thousands of panels at a time to sort out the rejects in a given batch. This is extremely costly and time consuming. So yeah, MPC is great, but it would be nice to see things get better in the QA department. If it was a 5% reject rate maybe it wouldn't be so bad, but we've seen orders where 40% or more of the order was bad (worst case).

Not able to deliver the custom color that we were quoted due to graphics, was not told until after order was placed. Did come to an agreement and they look very professional. Delivery took longer than quoted. Overall good pricing for quality product.

Staff is nice. Lead time is acceptable. Minimum lot charge is about 50% higher than competitors with no difference in quality or lead time.

Thank you for your comments. The minimum lot charge covers the fixed cost of launching a job (regardless of number of parts); we are currently unable to operate at a profit below that minimum. However, we are looking into automation that might allow us to reduce fixed costs. Thank you for your feedback.

Joe, thanks for your feedback. We determined that the quality issues you experienced were due to a training issue with some new personnel. As a corrective action, we have changed our training and implemented a quality coupon system which requires a supervisor or manager sign-off at each critical stage. I'm told by production that since this issue you have received two orders without a problem. Thank you for your business.
