Worst quality door. Sliders and glass man door- We had them installed in April and it took until September to get one of the door handles and the door is super hard to open. Its an 8x8 they said because it is super heavy. I have Pella in my other house and same size and super easy. They also blamed the 12’ slider trim popping because of sun exposure. 3 hrs its under a 12’ porch.…. One of our Pella doors gets 8 hours in the summer and in 5 years not a problem.
Hard to get a hold of warranty even harder to get parts. Our man door now broken after locking it maybe 3 to 4 times we left it unlocked during construction. They said 3 out of 5 of the locking mechanism is broken off. When he realized its new and never locked he was in shock. My question “how long is it going to take to get parts?” Response “no idea”

Think twice before dealing with Milgard
So I recently made a claim with Milgard for windows that fogged between the glass panes. First, let me point out that 4 out of 9 windows went bad in under 10 years. Right there is a reason to look elsewhere. Second, they look for any and all technicalities to get out of replacing a bad window. I made claims for all 4. One of them, a small window above a shower, we denied by the technician when they arrived (not his fault.). Their warranty states that windows tinted, in this case to stop neighbors from being able to see into the bathroom and shower, are not eligible as they've been "modified." I find this to be BS. This window was the least damaged of the 4, so it wan't the privacy film that caused the damage. I believe it was the steam from the shower as well as the substandard product. I also think because it was the most difficult to replace, they used their technicality to disqualify that window. Do they technically have the right to not honor the warranty on that window? Yes, they do. But was it the right thing to do? Absolutely not! So, consider this and the fact that 4 of 9 windows went bad in under 10 years before deciding in using their products.

Terrible Customer Service
We purchased approximately $15,000 worth of 26 Milgard windows through a local window company. We specifically selected the Milgard brand. About 10 months later, we discovered damage on the frame of a fixed window that receives virtually no contact. After we submitted photographs directly to Milgard, its warranty department denied coverage and referred us back to the installer. We then specifically requested goodwill assistance because of the window’s young age and the size of our purchase. Milgard’s service manager refused to offer any repair, replacement, material assistance, or reduced-cost accommodation. Based on our experience, Milgard was eager to sell 26 windows but unwilling to provide meaningful assistance when a problem appeared less than a year later.

Nine months of run-around but no warrentee action
Nine months. Ten defective windows. A lifetime warranty that Milgard doesn't appear willing to honor.
Milgard's "Lifetime Warranty" Looks Great on Paper, But My Experience Has Been Extremely Disappointing
I purchased Milgard windows for my home because of the company's reputation and what I believed was an excellent lifetime warranty. Unfortunately, my experience has been the complete opposite of what was promised.
I have been trying since November of last year to have nine windows replaced under warranty. Some of the window frames have developed cracks in the corners, and all windows suffer from severe oxidation and fading of the exterior finish. The original exterior color has clearly failed over time.
Milgard now claims that the faded and oxidized finish is not covered under their current warranty. However, the warranty that was in effect when I purchased my windows specifically covered this issue for the lifetime of the product. A company should honor the warranty that was sold with the product—not rely on changes made years later.
What makes this even more frustrating is that Milgard previously replaced ten other windows in my home for these exact same problems. At that time, I was told that the remaining windows would eventually need to be replaced as well—it was simply a matter of time before they experienced the same failures.
Following Milgard's recommendation, I agreed to have those replacement windows installed with white exterior frames because the company acknowledged that the original finish did not hold up well in sunny, salt-air environments and no longer warranted that finish. I accepted having mismatched windows on my home because I was led to believe the rest would eventually be replaced under warranty when they inevitably failed.
Now that the remaining windows have developed the very same defects, Milgard appears to be trying to avoid the obligation they previously acknowledged. Instead of honoring the warranty, I was told they would replace only the single window with the cracked frame while insisting there is nothing wrong with the faded and oxidized finish on the others.
The customer service representatives have always been polite and have repeatedly thanked me for my patience. Unfortunately, polite conversations do not replace action. After nine months of delays, excuses, missed follow-ups, and having to repeatedly contact Milgard myself just to learn the status of my claim, I can't help but feel the process is designed to wear customers down until they eventually give up, sell their home, or simply stop pursuing their warranty claim.
What should have been a straightforward warranty service—a site visit, manufacturing replacement windows, and a day of installation—has dragged on for months with virtually no meaningful progress. During the time I've been waiting for Milgard to resolve this issue, I have completed an entire home remodel around these defective windows.
A warranty only has value if the company stands behind it. My experience has been that Milgard's warranty sounds impressive during the sales process, but when it comes time to honor long-standing commitments, the company has not delivered on the promises that convinced me to buy their products in the first place.
If you're purchasing Milgard products because you believe the lifetime warranty will protect your investment, I would strongly encourage you to carefully consider whether the warranty will actually be honored if you ever need it.

Great product until you need a repair
I bought Milgard fiberglass patio doors about 4 years ago and have no complaint about how they look or work day to day. The problem was getting a routine repair done.
When a glass panel broke (gardner yeeted a pebble at the glass with his weed-whacker), I called Milgard for a service referral. I gave my Orange County address and got sent to shops in San Diego that do not serve my area, and my follow-up email went unanswered for a week. On a second call a helpful rep gave me two names, but the one near me was unreachable across three calls and never returned my messages. Their best local recommendation was a dead end.
The product added friction of its own. Several shops declined the job as soon as I said fiberglass, and the veteran installer who took the job told me the material chips easily and the black finish is hard to work with. Milgard markets these on strength, and structurally that may be fair, but the finish and edges are delicate and nearly impossible to color-match for a repair, which you only discover when something goes wrong.
Sorting out my order and warranty was its own slow, disorganized process. For a premium product, the support behind it did not match. A finicky product needs a strong service network. This was the opposite.

Milgard does not honor their warranty
Milgard does not honor their warranty. Hold onto your receipt because the code is stamped in your window fades over time and becomes illegible. Then you'll find out in five years time that their "lifetime" warranty is a phantom. They won't come out to inspect or verify their own product or view the failure. You'll just get continual stonewalling. Use another company. Milgard sucks.

Don't buy Milgard casement Windows - Countless Defects
We did a huge remodel in 2021 which included replacing the windows and doors. We purchased Milgard Casement two wide windows with grids, confident the high cost and reputation of the company would result in high quality windows to last us for many years. Within a month, we started experiencing multiple issues which have continued to increase. At this point, we are looking at having to replace all of them and we won’t be trusting in Milgard again. As of this morning, when a THIRD handle cracked and broke apart from the hinge, we can only open 3 of 8 casement windows after less than 4 years due to fear of serious injury/damage or a total inability to open or close the windows. All are from manufacturing or design defects, not due to the installation or misuse. This is a huge problem mainly because we do not have air conditioning because opening the windows at night has been successful before now in cooling the house. These include:
1. Struggle to fully close the final gap requiring pressure.
2. We can no longer use 3 of the windows for fear the entire pane will break entirely off the metal arm and fall 2 stories down and hit someone/something. This is because the metal arm has drastically bent so much you can see a significant angled gap between the top and bottom of the window. This happened after less than ONE YEAR.
3. The handle of the crank has simply broken off at the base on THREE windows. The metal just snapped off! Two have broken off in the last 2 weeks and the first one broke off 3 years ago after one year.
4. The screws that attach to the hinges weren’t installed at a 90 degree angle from the manufacturer. This causes the screws to rub against the hinge when closing and every time we do, we worry someday it will cause so much damage, it can no longer be closed. Therefore, we avoid using the windows whenever possible.
5. The screens are very cheaply made but the attachment design to the window is horrible. They frequently blow completely off if it is windy and have broken things multiple times as they fall. One benefit of being unable to open so many windows is we no longer have this problem. Small comfort.
There are also aesthetic issues which we have learned to live with as a bi-product of decreased quality during COVID. These include gaps between the edges of grids and damaged exterior paint.
After the third handle broke this morning, I am determined to ensure our experience is shared with as many as possible who are considering spending a significant amount of money on windows that will fail them.
