This company sells garbage from the app, to the potato quality camera, to the wires. I tried to heat shrink an exterior splice, and the wires just melted. When I opened it up to examine WTF was going on, I found the wires to be filaments of copper, unmeasurable in gauge. I am amazed that a signal can even transmit over such a miniscule filament of metal. The camera is terrible, and basically useless, unless you want to know the shape or color of a vehicle. Can't even recognize my own kid at 15 feet away! The app is the most frustrating thing about this company. In this day and age, how can they not have a functional app that works all the time? I can never get this to work on a Samsung Galaxy. Totally useless if you want to check your cameras from anywhere besides directly in front of your DVR. Speaking of the DVR, this is some 1990's technology. Can't believe Costco carries this crap! Back to the store you go with this junk!

I cannot recommend Lorex based on my experience. Before purchasing, I spent a lot of time on the phone with customer service asking detailed questions to make sure the system would work for my home. Unfortunately, several important setup requirements were never disclosed. I wasn't told that the recorder requires a monitor or TV for the initial setup, so I had to borrow a computer monitor just to get started. I also wasn't told that the recorder requires a wired ethernet connection. My home network is fully wireless, so I had to purchase a Wi-Fi extender with an ethernet port just to connect the recorder. The installation instructions were also incomplete. They never explained that all of the cameras should be paired near the recorder before being permanently installed. Based on the instructions, I reasonably assumed they should be installed in their final locations first. I paid a handyman to mount three outdoor cameras and a doorbell camera, only to discover they needed to be taken back down for troubleshooting. I spent approximately 20 hours trying to get this system working, with help from three other people. I even asked Lorex if they could provide professional installation. or recommend a local technician familiar with their products, but I was told neither was available. Every device had different problems. One camera never progressed beyond a red status light despite following customer service's instructions exactly. Another camera worked briefly before repeatedly disconnecting and eventually stopped accepting the recorder password. The doorbell camera wouldn't enter pairing mode, then wouldn't accept passwords, then repeatedly displayed "Failed to add device" and "Failed to bind" even though it was only about six feet from both the recorder and the Wi-Fi router. Even after finally connecting, it has continued to go offline frequently. In the end, it was the only device working, and it works less than half the time now. Customer support was courteous, but the troubleshooting process largely repeated the same information already included in the manual and did not address the specific issues I was experiencing. I was literally told to call customer service back later to try again. After investing so much time, purchasing additional equipment, and paying for installation that had to be undone, I no longer have any confidence that this system will function consistently over the long term even if I were to get everything working (unlikely). I requested a refund because the system would not work despite extensive troubleshooting. My refund request was denied, even though Lorex's published return policy states: “Up to six months: if your goods can't be repaired or replaced within a reasonable time or without significant inconvenience to you and without placing an undue burden on Lorex, then you can choose to either have the price reduced or get all of your money back (by returning the product in exchange for a refund).” This was the most difficult and time-consuming consumer electronics setup I've ever encountered. Between the incomplete setup information, unreliable performance, and poor customer support, this system is unrealistic and endlessly frustrating. LOREX DID NOT HONOR THEIR OWN REFUND POLICY. I have replaced my entire system with a different brand that was much easier to set up and is all working well. I will be throwing the Lorex devices in the trash.

It,s the worst of video doorbells in the past 5 years. Even after downloading/installing what is suppose to be the latest firmware, unit still unresponsive to movement and alerts. While some and I do mean some, alerts to phone may be as long a 5 min or more minutes to receive. Installing on a 100mb + download and 35 mb upload system apparently is not good enough to satisfy system requirements according to a conversation of over an hour with technical support. Installing via Lorex app took several attempts to finally install. After a week of putting up with poor quality of unit I gave up and removed entire system and moved on to another product. I should have read reviews pertaining to Lorex dependability fist before purchasing.

Press Release: Consumers Left Stranded as Lorex Faces Mounting Backlash Over Poor Service and Reliability all because of Iftikhar Usman Millions of households and businesses that trusted Lorex for their security needs say they have been left stranded by unreliable products and ineffective customer support. Once viewed as a go-to provider of security cameras and DVR systems, Lorex is now under growing fire from frustrated customers who claim the company has abandoned its core mission: protecting people. Iftikhar Usman runs Lorex customer service along with Sebastion Phil and Lenny who will hang up the phone on you not help you take your money report on your credit and make your life hell for 1 DVR System . All we asked Iftikhar Usman was for him to help us with a broken DVR for over 6 months we are trying to fix a refund and for him not to affect my credit instead of apologizes he acted like another nasty Chinese business owner and hangs up the phone calls and does not help stay away from LOREX IS A HUGE SCAMMER. Growing Frustration Among Customers The complaints against Lorex are consistent and widespread. Customers say they purchased Lorex cameras and DVRs expecting peace of mind, but instead received products plagued by glitches, faulty firmware, and frequent malfunctions. When problems occur, many customers report that customer service is unresponsive. Complaints include: • Calls being disconnected mid-conversation. • Support representatives hanging up on customers. • Long hold times without ever speaking to a technician. • Lack of follow-through or accountability once a ticket is filed. “We invested in Lorex technology to feel safe in our own home, but when the cameras stopped working, there was nobody there to help,” said one customer. “It’s terrifying to know the company we trusted with our security doesn’t care whether our system works or not.” A Pattern of Neglect Lorex customers say this isn’t just a case of occasional hiccups — it’s a pattern of systemic neglect. From outdated software updates to non-functioning apps, consumers say Lorex has not kept pace with the demands of modern security technology. Some of the most pressing complaints include: • DVR Incompatibility: Customers claim that many Lorex DVR systems do not work with updated networks or mobile apps, leaving expensive equipment useless. • Failed Promises: Lorex markets its systems as easy to use, but frustrated buyers say setup is overly complicated and troubleshooting support is nonexistent. • Account Blocking: Several reports suggest that customers who have active accounts are locked out or blocked, with no clear explanation. • Lack of Refunds or Replacements: Customers who have requested refunds or warranty replacements describe a maze of red tape and denials. These issues are leaving millions of users across North America without the very security they purchased Lorex products to provide. Leadership Accountability Called Into Question Critics argue that the heart of Lorex’s problems lies in its leadership and management culture. Instead of prioritizing customer satisfaction, the company appears more focused on cutting costs and outsourcing critical functions. Industry observers point to troubling signs: • Overseas Call Centers: Customers say their calls are often routed to under-trained overseas agents who cannot provide real solutions.

The doorbell camera keeps going offline. After several attempts via the Lorex App to request tech support to no avail, I wrote them and was provided a tech support number. I called and was asked several questions about what I bought, when where. Then I was asked for the serial number, (which is on the doorbell back plate) I explained that the doorbell is attached to the home. "Sorry, is there no other way to get the serial number?" No, sorry. Now I have to remove the doorbell, take a photo, and supply them with the serial number before they can provide tech support to fix the issue. Why this information isn't part of the sales data is beyond me. They have everything else on me personally for sales data but they don't know what they sell on file per the sales receipt number?
