PTR request denied 3 times with no specific reason given
I have been a paying Kamatera customer with a live VPS server (New York). I requested a reverse DNS (PTR) record for my IP to support outgoing mail — a standard hosting feature. After three rounds of back-and-forth, my request was denied each time with the same vague response: that my website "does not appear to be a real, fully functional website." No specific criterion was ever cited, despite me asking directly each time. My site has SSL, live DNS, pricing pages, an SLA, About and Contact pages, and a Privacy Policy — it meets every requirement on their own published checklist. I have now escalated to account management. I will update this review if the issue is resolved professionally. Update 08/03/2026: A Kamatera manager called me personally after this review was posted. While I appreciated the outreach, no apology was offered and the "not a real website" reasoning was still maintained without any specific criterion being cited. By that point I had already terminated my server. I have since moved to another provider where reverse DNS is self-service and requires no approval process. I wish Kamatera well but cannot recommend them for small independent operators who need straightforward infrastructure features without bureaucratic friction.
