Misleading Pricing || Bait and switch
Misleading Pricing and a Frustrating Vehicle Transportation Experience Think Carefully Before Booking I am sharing my experience to warn other customers about the importance of confirming every detail before hiring a vehicle transportation service. John Halter initially quoted me $285 to transport my vehicle. Based on that quoted price, I made my decision and expected the transportation to be completed at the agreed amount or at least within a clearly explained and mutually approved price range. However, after my vehicle had already been picked up, I was suddenly told that the price had increased to $1,200. This was an enormous and unexpected difference of $915 from the original quote. I found this situation extremely frustrating, stressful, and disappointing. When a customer receives a transportation quote, they reasonably expect the quoted amount to reflect the actual cost or for any possible additional charges to be explained clearly before the service begins. A change of this magnitude should never come as a surprise after the customer's vehicle has already been collected. At that stage, the customer may feel trapped, because the vehicle is no longer in their possession and finding another transportation provider may be difficult, time-consuming, or expensive. My biggest concern is the lack of pricing transparency I experienced. If the actual transportation cost was going to be $1,200, why was the initial quote only $285? Were there additional fees, changes in the transportation arrangements, or other costs that should have been disclosed before pickup? These are important questions that customers deserve clear answers to before committing to a service. In my opinion, a difference of $915 is far too significant to overlook, and any such increase should be properly explained and agreed upon in advance. Vehicle transportation is already a service that requires trust. Customers hand over their vehicles and depend on the transportation provider to communicate honestly, handle the vehicle responsibly, and honor the terms discussed during the booking process. Unexpected price increases can create unnecessary financial pressure and leave customers feeling that they have very few options. No customer should have to deal with this kind of uncertainty when trying to arrange a straightforward vehicle shipment. I believe that customers should be able to make informed decisions based on accurate information. A low initial quote can be attractive, but the most important thing is knowing the final amount that will actually be charged. In my experience, the difference between the original quote and the amount presented after pickup was alarming. I would have appreciated clear, upfront communication about the total cost and any potential additional charges before my vehicle was collected. I strongly encourage anyone considering this service to take precautions. Get the complete transportation quote in writing, confirm whether the price is guaranteed or subject to change, and ask for a detailed explanation of every possible fee. Keep screenshots of advertisements, text messages, emails, invoices, payment records, and any other communication. Do not rely solely on verbal promises, and make sure you understand the cancellation policy and what happens if the quoted price changes after booking. I am sharing this review so other customers can avoid experiencing the same frustration I encountered. Based on my personal experience, I would be hesitant to recommend this service to others. The unexpected increase from $285 to $1,200 seriously damaged my confidence in the pricing process and left me disappointed with how the situation unfolded. My advice is simple: protect yourself before handing over your vehicle. Confirm the total cost in writing, ask direct questions about additional charges, and make sure you understand the terms before authorizing pickup. Transparency, honest communication, and fair treatment should be basic expectations in the vehicle transportation industry. Customers deserve to know what they are agreeing to before their vehicles are picked up, not discover a dramatically different price afterward. Please be cautious, do your research, and verify every detail before making a booking. I hope sharing my experience encourages others to ask the right questions, keep proper documentation, and avoid unpleasant surprises when arranging vehicle transportation. best regards John Halter
