I'm a retail used car dealer using Carmel through eBay's Secure Purchase program. This was our first transaction with them, so the process was entirely unfamiliar and I was honestly hesitant about the whole process since we have been used to retailing off eBay our own way for 10+ years. After a few initial hiccups during the initial setup process, everything ended up smooth. Alex Nelson helped me through the process and was available and responsive to my questions, providing quick answers and updates, and ensured we received our funding for the purchase. I think there could be a little more smoothness on the buyer/customer side from what I heard from our purchaser, but I'm sure this will be worked through. Thanks again, Alex, for being helpful and reassuring us through this sale!

Overall an excellent experience using the eBay Motors Caramel service. Would have given a five star review but for a few little cracks in their service, user interface could be designed better and provide more information. One quick example is that they could not provide a transport service for my purchased vehicle, which is fine as I had a specific carrier lined up already but there was a delay in coordinating transport between seller and buyer as another party other than Caramel was involved. A minor issue but some frustration. However the communication was excellent with Caramel and being that they have only been operational for a year or so they will probably fill in these cracks. Speaking of their communication, that part of the service was five star, my primary contact being Spencer. Spencer and I talked several times providing information, answering questions, taking feedback, looking up information regarding the transaction, and more. Spencer is a top notch customer service agent (not sure of actual job title) very personable with a great sense of humor and understanding of his job. Talking with a knowledgeable human in a very timely fashion was refreshing in this day and age.

My Caramel experience is not over yet, but my customer support rep (Taylor) was very responsive, understood the issue that was holding up the process through eBay and quickly contacted other parties to get a resolution. My purchase is back on track. So far, so good; customer service has been great.

10/10 stars-honestly. Strong and responsive communication, very straightforward and transparent regarding costs, thorough and exacting with paperwork and scheduling. From the moment the auction ended until I had my car in my garage and title/plates in hand, I had zero questions about next steps or timeline. Everything was handled professionally and efficiently.

I usually try to avoid writing negative reviews but I had the worst experience using Caramel for purchase of vehicle off BringaTrailer.com. The auction ended 10/9 and check was overnighted and received 10/11. It wasn’t cashed until 10/23!! Paperwork was messed up. I received actual plates at the same time I was getting emails to re fill out forms for plates. It’s 11/6 at the time of writing this review and the car still sits with the seller. It hasn’t even been picked up yet!! It took a full month to be cleared for transport! I would like to say customer service was very nice on the telephone but every process with this company hit a snag. I would never ever use them again. They cost me money.
