I am one year from having had my solar…
I am one year from having had my solar panels installed in December 2024. On June 14th 2026 We had a heavy rain here in Clinton Township Michigan. I came home from church and my ceiling was leaking water through the ceiling fan electrical unit. My bedding was completely soaked. The carpet was wet from the rain running off the bed. I emailed Blue Raven at least two or three times requesting that they come out and investigate after I let them know that there was an issue that involved something going on underneath the solar panels that are above my ceiling and roof in my bedroom. It took me 3 to 4 days before I received any responses to my emails. On Tuesday, June 17, we had another rain. At this point I still have not received any idea as to who or when someone would be out. I called ServPro and they came out and put a tarp over the solar panels to prevent further leakage into the . I contacted my home owners insurance to start a claim because I really didn’t not know if I would get any further resolution through Sunpower/Blue Raven. Sunpowerfinally sent someone out and they did a patch job. The Sunpower/Blue Raven person showed me where two long large nail screws had been drilled into my roof and missed the beam. This person indicated that that’s where the leaking came from. They did a patch job to stop the leaking and assured me that my insulation in the attic would dry out. I doubted this was accurate because the attic is a dark, enclosed moist environment that does not have air circulating through it. At this time, my leaking ceiling then developed a bubble. After the bubble dissipated I had a large I shaped crack in my ceiling. I researched for a restoration company that could come out to assess the situation because I was concerned that the ceiling was going to cave in to my bedroom. Waterout Michigan Rep Josh came to my home the same evening I called him and put a large commercial dehumidifier in my bedroom to pull out the excess moisture from the ceiling for approximately five days.. to make a very, very long story short I now have a large gaping hole in my ceiling covered with plasti, missing insulation and drywall because it was so wet in the attic that it would never have dried out. I have not to this date received any follow up calls from Sunpower/Blue Raven to see if the problem was resolved after they sent their technician out to repair or do a patch job in my attic space. I have received no F/U emails from Blue Raven to see if everything is OK. I now have AAA Home Insurance involved, Waterout Michigan involved and they will be reaching out to Blue Raven or Sunpower for compensation once this is all done. I am not a construction person, but I can tell you that this is probably going to cost upwards to $30,000 to repair my ceiling, paint my bedroom, change the carpet and padding and repair the roof where a tarp had to be nailed over the solar panels to prevent any further water leakage. I had to have a company come out and put a tarp over the solar panels until I could get this taken care of and that cost $500. Then WaterOut Michigan I had to pay them $1900 to come in and start the water restoration process so at this point I’ve paid $2400 out-of-pocket for something that should never have happened and I am not a happy person I will never refer or recommend Sunpower once known as Blue Raven to anyone for installation with solar panels. I have pictures that I can provide dated proof of what my experience has been since June 14 up until today’s date August 3, 2026.
