Do not use Amerigas under any circumstances
We were customers of Amerigas for 17 years. Up until a few years ago, the service was reasonably good - we were on an auto fill program which seemed to work, and had a very helpful driver who provided good service. A few years ago all that changed. We started running out of propane despite being on the auto fill program. The driver told us he was not allowed to deliver without specific instructions from the company, and it became impossible to reach a local person. Two weeks ago our power went out in a snow storm, and our propane powered generator came on. After several days, as the level of propane dropped, we started calling Amerigas to ask for a refill because we were about to run out. We talked to people in all parts of the country (which is what you get when you dial the local number), who were all polite and said they were making a note of what we needed. There was never a response from Amerigas, and they never showed up. We ran out, and since the power was still out, it was cold, dark, and without water. We canceled our contract with them and called a different provider. There's another storm in the forecast for tomorrow, so the new provider may not be able to install their tank when planned, but whatever inconvenience this causes is worth it to get rid of Amerigas. If I could give them a negative 5, I would. Do not use them.
