However, given the circumstances, we’ve refunded the fee as a courtesy this time. You should see the credit reflected on your card shortly. Regarding your copay, I understand how confusing insurance billing can be. Because we function as both a specialty clinic and a primary care provider, insurance sometimes initially processes visits under the specialist tier. We’re happy to wait for the EOB and reconcile the balance according to your plan’s final determination to ensure accuracy. We are also transitioning to a new billing system to improve clarity and reduce issues like this moving forward. To clarify the charges: • Our new-patient visit is $200 for a 15-minute consultation, as listed on our pricing page: https://alphahormones.com/pricing. • The $200 payment was collected toward your deductible since your insurance has not yet covered the visit. • Once you receive your Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from your insurance company, please forward it to us, and we’ll refund any difference if your plan covers a portion of the visit. • We also did not charge an additional $100 for a 30-minute slot. Your appointment time was extended as a courtesy to make sure your questions were fully addressed. Thank you for your understanding, and please let us know once you have your EOB.

However, to clarify for accuracy: your subscription was inactive since November 18, 2023, and there had been no payment, appointment, or clinical activity for over 1 year and 8 months. As with all patients returning after a long lapse in care, we require a $100 consultation fee to ensure a safe and appropriate re-evaluation by our medical team. This is standard clinical protocol and not a penalty, and the fee is credited toward your subscription if you choose to continue care. Our staff remained professional during the interaction and provided a clear explanation of this policy. We never quoted a $150 consultation fee. We also found no indication that your account was canceled in error—our records reflect that you opted not to move forward after learning of the re-consultation requirement. While we appreciate the patients you referred in the past, respectful communication is something we uphold for all staff and patients. We’re committed to high-quality care, transparency, and professionalism—even when difficult conversations arise. We wish you the best in your health journey.

You requested lab work before being evaluated by one of our providers and was hesitant to pay out-of-pocket because your insurance deductible of $3,300 had not been met. Please note that if your deductible has not been met, you are responsible for paying the self-pay fee at the time of service. This is standard practice based on your insurance policy, not a policy set by our clinic. Additionally, we are required to follow clinical protocols. A licensed provider must first evaluate you before ordering any labs to ensure they are medically necessary and appropriate. We also offered you a complimentary consultation, but unfortunately, you chose to end the communication before the call could proceed. We always strive to provide accessible and transparent care, but communication and cooperation are essential on both sides. For reference, our self-pay rate is $200 for new patients (15 minutes) and $100 for established patients (15 minutes). If you have further questions or are open to resolving this matter, we’re happy to assist you directly.
