Xfinity vs Verizon Coverage, misleads customers
I was a long time Verizon customer who switched to Xfinity a few years ago. I was told that one of the positive aspects of Xfinity is that they use Verizon towers and have the same coverage. During international travel, I have never had an issue with Verizon global coverage. And I didn't until recently with Xfinity. Although the Maldives are included on the Verizon global network, it isn't included on the Xfinity network. Before I understood what was happening, Xfinity billed me $1000 within a few hours. I finally figured out what was happening, and switched to wifi. I did some research afterwards, and found out that Verizon includes 40+ more countries on their global pass than Xfinity. So they really do not have similar coverage at all. I believe that I was misled by Xfinity and will be switching back to Verizon. A $1000 bill in less than 4 hours is ridiculous. It should have been obvious that my usage was not my norm, and that there was confusion on my part. I am retired, and a $1000 mobile bill is a hardship.
