Total scam. The State if Michigan forces you to use them to retrieve birth and death certificates and marriage records. I ordered three records through them. NONE were delivered. After 3 months waiting I called their number. Put in hold forever. Then told by agent to call Michigan vital records. Asked for refund. They refused. This is a criminal organization.

Use another company - any company. They are the friggin WORST. I order a divorce certificate over a month ago. At the time of the order, Vital sent an email saying it would be about 2 weeks. After waiting a MONTH, I called. I was told by the automated system that my document "had just been released for production?!?! This is the same thing the email said a MONTH ago. The automated answering system said if I wanted to talk to a real person... I would be on hold 10 minutes, after an HOUR I hung up. THIS IS THE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED IN MY LIFE.

Ok...soooo. I have handled several estates for relatives and understand that a certified death certificate is and that you can get one from the county court clerk in the county the person dies. If you have the right documents. You an also go the state goverment department of vital records and get copies. The forms to order vital records are nomally on the state's website for free download, you fill them out, send payment with ID and supporting documents to the state. I was under the impression using Vitalchek would expidite the process and they say they will send you a "KIT" to assist you after reviewing your application. Its $99. But you fill out thier form with all the info you know. All thier program does is put that info onto a form for the state where you need to send the form with your payment for each certificate and some identification. The "Kit" just tells you where to mail in and how. In my case, half of the mailing addreess to state of Tennnessee was missing. I had already downloaded the state of Tennnesee request form for free. It was the exact same form the Vitalcheck used.I waited three weeks waiting for my "kit" and my form. I found it in my SPAM folder. I was shocked for $99 they "reviewed my form and mis-spelled FUNERAL on the form. Anyways, I could have just fllled out the STATE PROVIDED FORM and mailed the info in myself. Which you end up doing anyway. SO the $99 was a literal waste. This third party serivce is not needed. Just download forms and try in yourself.

GET RID OF THE COMPUTER AND PUT PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING IN CHARGE. WHEN A PATIENT CANCELS, TAKE THEM OUT OF YOUR SYSTEM, IT RUINS THEIR PERSONAL PHONE. WHEN VITAL CONNECT WANTS IN, THEY DON'T LEAVE! THIS IS THE WORST EXCUSE FOR A MEDICAL DEVICE I'VE EVER SEEN. IT IS SPAM TO THE EXTREME AND THEY DON'T TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANYTHING.

Like many others, I ordered my birth certificate for my real ID. I ordered it on August 28th, 2026.. It is now October 9th, 2026 and I still have not received it. They really deserve Zero stars, but that's not an option. I talked to a very nice lady at VC, but she basically told me there's nothing I could do from here ( aka , I'm SOL).

$26 county fee, $11 vitalchek to process. Definition of a scam.

Really terrible company - they've surely got some shady connections that allow them to monopolize government document services. Never deal with them, it's always better to just order directly by mail with the government department you're dealing with.

I am giving them one star because I cant give them less. Before 2026 I had usually ordered my birth certificate by solely presenting a passport. In January 2026 they updated all their verification requirements. They now require and Id with an additional proof of residence and the credit card that purchases the birth certificate has to match the proof of address. The issue is they also accept International buyers, who obviously need to purchase their birth certificates. In Nyc they are the sole other express method of receiving a certificate if you live abroad and keep in mind Nyc doesn't allow POAs. I asked in advance if they could waiver restrictions since they had doen such a thorough verification process because in the area where I live in France the UPS service can be unreliable to arrive according to times and dates etc. It is very hard if you work that you need to take a day off because Vitalchek restricts the package from being simple left at a pickup point. I was out the first time that UPS arrived and the second day UPS claimed they couldn't pass when they programmed they would and when I spoke with Vitalchek they told me to simple call them so they could ask the UPS to remove the restriction. I called and was told this was done. Later when speaking to agents at UPS they laimed no such notification or request was made. They claimed it could not be left at any pick up point and also they weren't clear how it would function because again everyday I work and cannot depend on the schedule of UPS. By the grace of God UPS came to deliver it on a day they were not even programmed to arrive. This situation is deplorable and the first and foremost problem is with Vitalchek. They cannot on one hand ask for all these verifications and then not update their delivery service. They choose to use UPS and they do not know how these delivery services function abroad so they need to update their method and accomodate clients who live abroad.
