A-Z Moving and Storage LLCReviews of valueaddedmoving.com

Just an absolute scam, was quoted over the phone gave them a list of everything I had and size of all the boxes, when they showed up they doubled the quote, I was stuck with them because of time constraints, when they arrived at the drop off location they needed more money, absolute joke this company is. DO NOT USE THEM.

Beware: classic bait-and-switch scam. I was quoted $1,700 by Value Added Moving for a long-distance move from North Carolina to New York. I went over every item in detail ahead of time — no surprises, no last-minute additions. When the movers arrived, they claimed my items were “bulkier than expected” and suddenly told me it would cost an additional $1,500, plus the cost of another truck, to move the same items we had already agreed on. I refused the new price and asked them to cancel the move and return my $800 deposit. They refused. I’ve contacted them multiple times over multiple days — no resolution, no refund. After posting negative (and truthful) reviews online, they contacted me offering a partial refund — only if I took the reviews down and signed an NDA agreeing not to speak about my experience. This is manipulative, unethical, and clear evidence of a bait-and-switch scam. If you’re considering using them — don’t. Save yourself the stress, wasted time, and lost money.

Don't trust the salesmen. They will give you a price, then up the price the week before. Went from $4700 to $7300. Then, the day of the move they said they could not move us unless we gave them an additional $4025. From $4700 to 11,335. My 88 year old mother was scamed! Lost her $3330 deposit! Stay away from this broker! When you talk to customer service they tell you the contract is “iron clad”.

I understand that you are the broker for this company. But, I would seriously remove them from the rotation. And find another way to do quotes. I did a walk through with the rep with pictures and I can show the text messages where I gave a full view of everything to Mike. The price went from 4600 to 7200. The movers showed up late to my home and were there until midnight. This is a violation of the apartment's policy. They also removed the security box that goes with the security system after I gave explicit instructions to the contrary. I told the man that the box belonged to the apartment and was to remain ( I have a picture of it). That is destruction of property. I am being charged by the apartment for that and expect the company to reimburse me as I told the movers that the box was not to go. I also do not appreciate the movers destroying the 100 dollar lighting system that was on the television that should not have been removed (pictures taken). They did not pack everything and left many items behind, even though a walkthrough was done when they arrived and they were told when we did the final walk through. The movers acted like it was the biggest inconvenience and left without packing those things (pictures were taken). The total amount almost doubled and the explanation that was given to me was that the agent did not have any idea of the amount of items to be taken. That is not true as I said, the agent did a virtual walk through of my house. The mover also stated something about moving IKEA furniture, basically stating that it will be destroyed in the process of the move and they are not responsible for that. That was not discussed or stated when Mike and I spoke on the phone. That IKEA clause is not even in my contract. This has been the worst moving experience. The whole time the movers kept commenting on how much stuff I had as if having a furnished 2 bedroom apartment was not something I should have. I will let you make the implications from there. Don't know if it is because I am a person of color or a woman, take your pick. It was not a comfortable experience for me. I also want to speak in terms of payment collections, I do not know anyone who carries thousands of dollars in cash to get money orders and or give someone cash for a move, but I was not comfortable giving money orders for loading and unloading my stuff. This should be standard policy that credit and debit cards should be taken. They are also not in contact with the dispatch department of the company as I have been contacted by more than one person about the delivery and no one is talking to each other. This makes me think the company is a scam. Too many red flags for me on this and I will not be using this company again. I am also telling my employer as well, this was a company funded relocation. This cost was totally unacceptable.  The contract price and the actual was 3721 difference. The total was 8520 from a quote of 4800. As I stated I only have a 2 bedroom apartment. Again I have pictures of everything I have stated. And when I tried to speak to the agent Mike, my text messages and calls have gone unanswered. Very poor customer service.

DONT EVER CALL THIS COMPANY. That’s all I can say. They will destroy your items and never show up when they say. They cracked our 10k hot tub and then said it was our fault for some reason

This company is totally liar and screwed us up. Didn't show up at 10AM as they promised but showed up at 12:50am, with a u-haul with nothing inside, no boxes, no blankets... nothing and wanted to move my glasses and art collections. Then throwed me a piece of paper said I cancelled contract. When I left next morning, I called them and they offered they would come back to do the right job but I told them I had left as I planned. They declined to refund for me declined their job offer. Ridiculous!

Value Added Moving gave me a quote for moving the contents of a 10x30 storage unit. The quote was $2,145.00. I explained that the storage unit was pretty full but that I couldn't provide details of the contents since I had put them in storage over 10 years ago. I spoke with 2 different people at Value Added Moving over the course of about 2 weeks and they assured me they would be able to move my belongings from Colorado to Florida for the quote they provided. I had saved just enough money to pay for the quote they provided and fly out to Colorado. My goal was to get rid of some things that I didn't want to pay to move. I hired a very nice local helper to assist me in pulling everything out of the unit to see what I actually had stored there. I also paid a junk company $600.00 to dispose of furniture and other items so there would be less for the moving company to take. I received a call from the someone from Value Added Moving while I was going through the boxes at the storage unit. I explained that even though I was getting rid of many items the storage unit was still about 2/3 full. He assured me that they would have plenty of room on the truck. I flew back home that night and then two days later the moving driver arrived at the storage unit. He said it would cost me a total of $9,356.02 for him to take all of my things. I told him that was over $7,000.00 more than the original quote that I was provided by the company. I explained that I didn't have enough money to pay an additional $7,000.00. He said he wasn't going to take my things and he left. I called the original contact person I spoke with at Value Added Moving (Erik) and he suggested I send a detailed email to the general customer service email address requesting my deposit back. I followed his advice and sent an email explaining what happened. I received a reply from "Customer Service" stating they would refund my deposit within 72 hours. After a week I still hadn't receive the refund of my deposit and I called them again. The person I spoke with (someone I hadn't spoken with before) said I would not get a refund because the driver went to the unit - even though he didn't do anything! I explained that they knew this information and still emailed me that I would get my deposit back. The man I was speaking with just said that I would not get a refund and hung up. I have written to the Attorney General in the state of Florida (where this company's headquarters are located) and filed a complaint and am waiting for a reply. This company is obviously uses this technique to get deposits that they have no intention on returning using the same logic. It's easy to provide a lowball quote, send the driver who then quotes a much higher amount. Then you have a choice to pay the higher amount or lose your deposit. Either way it's a win-win for Value Added Moving and a loss for you! THEY ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED! Do not use VALUE ADDED MOVING!!!

I used Value moving from NY to Fla. overcharged for items that werent on the truck l, took 2 weeks to get it here, they used another company to get from one place to another. A lot of my glassware was broken & wanted to give me 60 cents per pound. Tried disputing overcharging nothing happened. Get another moving company this one is horrible
