About Trail & Bone

Trail & Bone is an online dog training company that helps everyday dog owners fix reactivity and aggression in their dogs. Not professionals. Not people with hours a day to train. Regular owners who love their dog but dread walks, can't have people over, and feel like they've tried everything. The company was founded by Jon Somers, a dog owner who went through reactivity himself with his own dog. Trail & Bone's flagship program is Resolving Reactivity, a step-by-step online course that teaches owners how to understand why their dog reacts and how to actually fix it at the root, not just manage it forever. The course is taught by Matt Cochran, a professional balanced dog trainer based in the Pittsburgh, PA area and the owner of Cochran K9 Training. Matt is certified through Training Without Conflict, the methodology developed by world-renowned trainer Ivan Balabanov. Matt has spent years helping owners with reactive and aggressive dogs that other trainers gave up on. He teaches the entire Resolving Reactivity program on camera, walking owners through every step. What makes Trail & Bone different:Most reactivity advice falls into one of two camps. Either avoid every trigger forever and toss treats at your dog's face, or throw the dog into overwhelming situations and punish it. Neither works long-term, and most owners have already tried both.Resolving Reactivity takes a balanced training approach. That means using both rewards and clear, fair communication so the dog actually understands what's expected. The program is built around addressing the real root causes of reactivity (frustration, fear, genetics, and lack of fulfillment) instead of just fighting the symptoms on the leash.Owners learn a complete system: how to fulfill their dog's real needs, how to build genuine cooperation and authority, how to develop impulse control and confidence, and how to finally help their dog make better choices around the things that used to set them off. It's honest about the work invo
