Progress TelerikReviews of telerik.com

They are currently experiencing many critical bugs found in old versions of their libraries (CVE-2026-13181, CVE-2026-13182, CVE-2026-13183, CVE-2026-13184, CVE-2026-13185, CVE-2026-13186,  CVE-2026-13190 etc) and refuse to provide free or inexpensive updates to users of the libraries that have stopped paying their annual fees (as we have moved on to other solutions). After negotiation and complaint they want $849 to get access to their urgent hotfixes for 1 year. Given the complexity of their tools and the way AI can now be used to find exploits, I can see this being a permanent outgoing. In 2020 they responded to a exploit in their code (CVE-2019-18935) by offering everyone a "complimentary" upgrade. What changed? Corporate greed and treating old paying customers with contempt, leaving older systems vulnerable to exploit. Shameful. Literally benefiting $$$ from old bugs.

They make all of their libraries SO difficult to use. Where you might have a simple property in someone else's control they bury in events. Their licensing system is a nightmare. I hate their tools with a passion. If it were up to me I would rip it all out and replace with some other UI library.

Pros: - lots of components (however most of them is just same or worse than free components available for web application (.net core / JS) - good grid component (table) - good scheduler Cons: - extremely inconsistent (API/documentation is ALL OVER the place, there is no way that I would let mid/junior level developer to work on this) - most of components is worse than free components available on MIT license - many important components are missing - there are big issues in how you can load/reload/init those components for ajax/.net views - did I've mentioned inconsistent API ? (methods/names/functions/behaviour/interaction/init) In general I am not sure who would use it, based on the fact that we have used only scheduler/grid (pdf exporter IS AWFUL, it is the worst exporter that I have ever seen, hardly useful for any case) we probably should have write own wrapper or go ahead and buy another component library. Their charts are a joke, awful and more like 2000's charts than what you GET FOR FREE from big chart libraries available online. Their support is a joke (we have a premium one, but they always hitting 24h response and often their response is USELESS as they link documentation that in a first place was the issue). In general I DO NOT RECOMMEND TO ANY COMPANY. If you are an amateur that wants to quickly get few components off them to do your app for your master degree, then well maybe (if you are ok with the cost). If you are working in a company that either has more than 3 devs or wants to cut the costs then look further. Telerik only costed us huge amount of money in dev costs, wasted discovery phase etc. In general we've wasted 6 months worth hundreds of thousands dollars and we are removing almost all components (the new devs are always having same issues as we had in a first place).

If you like playing guess the API, then the Telerik software is for you. Only the basics of the controls are documented, the moment you try to use them for anything more specific, you'll find that the properties, methods and events are not documented and you have to try to guess how to use them from their name. You can raise a support request, but if the documentation was better, you wouldn't need to keep asking questions. Very frustrating. The controls appear to be very good, but you will keep hitting the poor documentation problem and this will kill your productivity.
