Legacy SunPower Corporation (Out of Business)Reviews of sunpower.com

The Customer Service Rep was prompt initially. Once we got into the negotiation of pricing, the rep never followed up. I made multiple attempts to get in touch but to no avail. It's unfortunate, I wanted to go with SunPower, but the lack of communication. I will look elsewhere for my needs.

I had a problem with having my phone app receiving reports. It took five weeks before they sent a technician to my home to take a look. He managed to get it up and running. An hour after he left I had the same problem. It is now five weeks and four emails (I have yet to get a response), I called and they do not seem to have my email address correct, my phone number, etc. It is like I am dealing with a totally new company. There help line is worthless

Installed my SunPower residential solar system in January 2015, and was promised a 10-year warranty, with no mention anywhere that there are different warranty periods for different system components. Had to have the monitoring systems upgraded and changed within a few years under warranty, but then the monitoring system stopped working again December 2021. I found out in February of 2022 and contacted SunPower, who then referred me to Semper Solaris (the installer), who then referred back to SunPower. Now after 8 months of waiting, I received a call from Semper Solaris saying that the new monitoring system, called PV 6.0 is not covered by SunPower Warranty and that's why it's taking so long, and more than a dozen calls and emails and endless frustration. The entire holdup, I was told, is that I have to pay $950 for the new monitoring component, the PV 6.0. Bottom line, do not trust SunPower's warranty. When I was sold my system back in 2015 I was told SunPower has the best warranty in the business. This has proven to be a bunch a hooey. I paid a premium to have an "American" SunPower solar system, but don't let this fool you, "American" is just a mask they hide behind.

I have had my panels for a few years now. The output is nearly half of what it was when first installed. I have called the company and emailed and its been over a month with no reply. Good luck calling as the wait time is a joke. I dont know how a company can treat their customers this way. No support after you sign the contract. They have been paying me for the last couple of years due to the panels not creating what i was guaranteed. My advise is to find another company with a good after sales support.

My SunPower panels showed a 60% drop in a two year span. They were only a few years old. Sunpower wouldn't pay for a tech to inspect so I went out of pocket and they still couldn't explain the drop in production. Lesson learned. How about first restoring the 8 years of data the has been conveniently removed.

I am registered in sun power and since on thw 20th the system has been down, I can't view my account, I can't withdraw I can't do anything. What is going on pls . Sun power should kindly respond to this, it's very horrible. My registration number: 07088597976 and my other brother 09026312436. Pls kindly review it

So disappointing. SunPower make great panels, I expected their installation service to be superior. The worst communication of any organization I have ever dealt with. All of the people that came to my house from SunPower were very nice. However, they were also poorly trained. First off, I went with SunPower (foolishly on my part) to add additional panels to my existing SunPower array. One of my existing panels was broken and a small stretch of conduit was completely disintegrated. I had tried for TWO years to get the issues resolved. They were unresponsive, or, deflecting in there willingness to fix my problem I figured it must be a Covid issue that was causing their disfunction. So when I decided to order more panels I got assurances from the SunPower sales rep that my existing problems would be resolved with my new order. Absolutely not true. Once I ordered from her, I never received any followup. Even when I would email her for help. But the project coordinator said it would be dealt with. After several months of no installation of my new panels I called to see what the issue was. I was told the panels I ordered were not available and would not be available for at least another 4 months. I settled for a slight downgrade in panels to get the installation sooner. Was told the installation team would also document my existing issue. They did document it. The new installation did not go as expected. The next SunPower technician that came out to oversee a local inspection said the install would not pass inspection. The breakers had to be rewired and properly grounded. They then sent out a great electrician who made the changes.(although the breakers are still not as be per the drawings because he did not have a 50 amp breaker. When I asked repeatedly ( both by email and of anyone on-site) where my replacement panel was, I was just put off. There was never any followup by SunPower technicians. The project coordinator said over and over an RMA needed to be cut to replace the panel. She sent email after email to the people who supposedly should be taking care of this, but never received a reply. Now 6 months out and still no RMA, no followup. My emails never returned. Phone calls never returned. No one person in SunPower sees a project to completion. Issues are just passed from one person to another to another. No one could get my SunPower mobile app to work with both array of panels. On-site technicians could not help because they were not trained. I never did get a local inspection or a PGE on-site inspection. The best solar panels in the industry and the customers who pay a premium price for them deserve better. Poor process management, poor training, poor communication. Pure frustration.

Sunpower makes great panels, but they are not worth the hassle if you have an issue. Their customer service is abysmal. I signed the contract in Aug of 2019 and was told it would take 3 months to turn the system on, but it took 6 months. Ok, I got over that. But two years later, my system stopped producing completely, and they can't seem to get their act together to send someone out to take a look, I have an open case but they initially told me to contact my installer. The installer said they need to be contracted by Sunpower to provide service. "are completing a review". What has to be reviewed - you have confirmed the system is not producing power. You said you offer a 25-year end-to-end warranty - why delay things? This is costing me, money people. Every day this is down is lost revenue for me. But Sunpower can't be bothered. So if your considering sunpower - don't. Go with a local installer with a good service record.
