Alcohol Lied to Me Too!
I had listened to a few of your audiobooks and a few turned into several. They’re so well written and narrated. I had seen your ‘Alcohol Lied to Me’ book several times and thought to myself, “I don’t have a drinking problem, but I might check it out sometime just to see what it’s about.” Years back I had stopped drinking for a little over a years time, I must say it was awesome. Before that I was drinking pretty heavily. Usually cheap vodka, because well...it was cheap! And it was also easy to put in a water bottle and disguise. Fast forward past that year of sobriety, I began to think I was now in control and could have the occasional drink or two if I wanted because I felt I no longer have a problem. For years I had this mind set. Sometimes I’d drink a couple weekends in a row out with friends, sometimes I’d stop for weeks or even months. One time a blackout drunkenness occurred and I thought what in the hell? How’d that happen? I guess I just need to eat a bit more next time...maybe I was just tired to begin with. Well as you can probably guess getting blackout drunk would occur again, and again, and again. It wasn’t consistent though. Maybe every few months it would occur and I would say to myself, “You jacka$$, eat a little more before drinking you know this, get more sleep next time so that doesn’t happen” and my favorite, “I think the damn bartender was making me triples instead of doubles the whole night!” I always had a reason other than my own as to why I ended up too drunk. I thought because I wasn’t drinking every day that I was in control of alcohol. It’s so crazy what I would choose NOT to believe about myself and about alcohol. I have to tell you, I began that book thinking I had no problem with alcohol because I was an occasional or social drinker, but almost instantly it seemed while listening to your book, I KNEW I never wanted to drink again. I understand now why that year of sobriety in 2010 was so great feeling and that’s how I want to feel everyday. I tried to keep this as short as possible, but I just HAD to tell you how much of a difference you’ve made in my life personally. Thank you very much! I love the no BS, honest approach.
