The worse moving company possible. They have terrible customer service and communication. We got quoted an extra $1000 than what we initially signed up for with all the same items. Had to ship boxes ourselves to avoid paying that crazy addition. They never provided us update as promised. Never sent the drivers info, never told us updates when they were in transit, and didn’t give a 24-48 hour notice with a time window on when they will drop our items off. They will try to rip you off in price wherever they can. Oh and forgot to mention they lost pieces of furniture!!! Even though we paid thousands of dollars and watch them load everything! They’re definitely stealing so beware.

Extremely Disappointed
BEWARE – Price Changed From $2,900 to $6,000 and Our Belongings Are STILL Not Delivered
Our experience with Southwest Van Moving Company has been absolutely unacceptable.
We scheduled our move for June 27, 2026. We were originally quoted approximately $2,900 for our move. Then, only two days before our moving date, everything changed. By the time of the move, we were told the cost would be approximately $6,000 — more than DOUBLE the original quote.
At that point, we were already committed to moving and had very little time or opportunity to find another moving company. We felt like we had no choice but to proceed.
But the nightmare did not end with the price increase.
Our belongings were picked up on June 27, and as of August 30, more than TWO MONTHS LATER, WE STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED OUR BELONGINGS.
These are our family's household possessions — furniture, clothing, personal belongings, and things our children and family need every day. We have been forced to live without our belongings and spend additional money replacing necessities while we wait.
We trusted this company with practically everything in our home. After charging us thousands of dollars more than we originally expected, the very least we expected was for our belongings to actually be delivered.
We need answers immediately:
• Where are our belongings right now?
• Who currently has possession of them?
• Why have they not been delivered after more than two months?
• What is our confirmed delivery date?
• What compensation or reimbursement will be provided for this excessive delay and the additional expenses we have incurred?
I would strongly caution anyone considering using this company. Get EVERYTHING in writing, especially the price and guaranteed delivery terms. Our experience went from an approximately $2,900 quote to around $6,000, and more than two months after pickup, we are still waiting for our belongings.
This has caused our family an enormous amount of stress, inconvenience, and additional expense.
Southwest Van Moving Company, we want our belongings located and delivered immediately.

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We understand that waiting for your household belongings is frustrating, and we want to clarify the status of your shipment and address the concerns raised in your review.
First, your shipment is still within the contracted delivery window. Interstate household goods moves do not operate on a guaranteed delivery date unless specifically stated in the contract. The delivery timeframe is based on the agreed terms and the distance of the move, and we are currently working to have your shipment delivered as quickly as possible.
Regarding the location of your belongings, your shipment is not missing or unaccounted for. As our Customer Service team has communicated to you multiple times, your belongings are currently at our distribution facility in Tampa, Florida, awaiting dispatch to the final destination. We understand you would prefer an immediate delivery, and our team is actively working on getting the shipment scheduled and transported as soon as possible.
We would also like to clarify the pricing. The original estimate was based on the inventory information that was initially provided. During the broker's Quality Assurance review, the inventory was reviewed and additional items and/or services that were not included in the original inventory were identified. As a result, the estimated shipment volume and corresponding transportation cost were adjusted. The final price was therefore not changed arbitrarily; it was based on the updated inventory and the actual scope of the move.
We understand that the difference between the initial estimate and the final cost is significant. However, it is important to distinguish between an initial estimate based on incomplete inventory information and the final charges based on the actual shipment.
We have remained in communication with you throughout this process and have provided updates regarding the location and status of your shipment. We are continuing to work toward the earliest possible delivery and will provide you with the delivery information as soon as transportation is confirmed.
We appreciate your patience and understand that you want your belongings back as soon as possible. Our priority at this point is getting your shipment to its final destination safely and as quickly as logistics allow.
Cheaper is not always better, and it’s not even cheaper!
This is a little long, but it’s important you read this before considering business with this company, if somehow you missed/ignored all the other bad reviews. Note how they don’t have any Google reviews.
While I was deployed, my 8 month pregnant wife along with our parents moved everything into two storage units, and contacted SouthwestVanLines to move our stuff from Florida to Arizona. We sent them pictures of the storage units and they quoted us $3,200 to load our stuff up, drive it to Arizona and unload it.
We went through with them and paid a down payment. We were told if the storage units were ready by May 26th or 27th, they would have our belongings to us June 3rd, max June 4th (2026). So we made that work. A few days before May 26th, they told us the moving truck they planned on using wasn’t available, so we’d have to pay more. That made the new price $6,444.95. It was too close to moving to go with anyone else, and again we had already made a down payment.
Moving day comes, and they say they need to use more of the truck, and charge us $900 for boxes. Our new total, the day before we start our drive to Arizona, was now a few dollars short of $10,000. Which again we paid, because what else would we do.
June, 3rd, 4th, 5th all come and go, and most of our stuff arrives on June 10th. Our couches had mold on them for some of the pieces actually delivered. We had stuff from two other families, that SVL had no interest in, but we were able to track one of them down and mail them their stuff.
The guy that delivered our household goods, paid two people from Facebook marketplace to help him unload them. I asked him where my ($10k+ in) Snap-On toolboxes were and he said he forgot them, and actually promised we’d have them by the end of the next week.
To nobodies surprise, they did not come next week. It took an entire month for them to come. He arrived at 9:30 PM, by himself with my toolboxes fallen over on the floor. When asked what happened he said it’s the second time it’s happened. And now one of them is severely damaged and I cannot lock it anymore.
SouthwestVanLines, at every turn took no responsibility and said not to blame the company, they outsource for their deliveries. The people doing the thing you paid SVL to do, do not work for them, and do not separate your stuff from other people’s in the back of their trucks. They will make false promises, and by the time you find out about them, it’s more than likely too late. Save yourself the stress, and save money, by going with someone else.
-They offered me $100 for damages.
-Edit in response to their reply if you’re interested in the lies in the response:
In response to them saying I never gave them the chance or told them we had been given other people’s things, they were told on the phone and via email.
“ That is very relieving thank you! We are also finding someone else’s stuff along with ours as well. Their wedding pictures and some other things.” emailed on June 11th 2026.
In response to them saying what was in the storage unit wasn’t accurate reflected in what was told to them:
They were sent pictures of both storage units.
In response to them saying they take accountability, this is in an email from them when I complained about being lied to.
“ We respectfully ask that you not judge your overall experience with our company based solely on your interactions with the third-party contractor engaged to assist with the delivery process.” -June 11th 2026.

Response from South West Van Lines LLC· Aug 28, 2026
Dear Ryan,
Thank you for your feedback. We have reviewed your concerns and would like to clarify several points, as a number of statements in your review do not accurately reflect the circumstances of your move or our records.
Regarding the pricing of your shipment, Southwest Van Lines did not arbitrarily increase your price. We were the carrier responsible for transporting your shipment; the original inventory and pricing were finalized through the broker based on the inventory information provided at the time of booking.
When our crew arrived at the storage units, the actual shipment did not match the inventory that had been provided. There were additional items and services required that were not included in the original inventory. The final charges therefore reflected the actual shipment and services provided. It is inaccurate to characterize this as Southwest Van Lines simply deciding to increase your price after you had committed to the move.
The same applies to the additional boxes and materials. Those charges were associated with the actual services and materials required for your shipment. An accurate inventory at the time of booking would have allowed the original pricing to more accurately reflect the shipment.
Regarding the mold reported on your furniture, the affected belongings had been stored for an extended period before transportation, and our driver was advised that the items had been sitting in storage. Mold can develop from prolonged exposure to moisture and humidity. Based on the circumstances surrounding the storage of these belongings, we cannot attribute the reported mold to the transportation of your shipment.
You also stated that you received belongings belonging to two other families and that Southwest Van Lines had no interest in addressing the issue. This is not supported by our records. We were never notified that you had received another customer's belongings and were therefore never given an opportunity to investigate or arrange for their return. Had this been reported to us, we would have taken the appropriate steps to address it. We cannot accept the characterization that we were aware of the issue and simply refused to take responsibility.
Regarding your toolbox, we acknowledge the reported damage and understand your frustration. However, you have stated that the toolbox is worth approximately $5,000 without providing documentation establishing that value or demonstrating that the reported damage resulted in such a loss.
As a goodwill resolution, Southwest Van Lines offered $200 in compensation for the reported toolbox damage. Your statement that we offered only $100 is inaccurate. The $200 offer remains available.
Finally, your statement that Southwest Van Lines "took no responsibility" and that the company simply "outsources" deliveries does not accurately describe our transportation operations. Interstate moves can involve contracted transportation resources, but that does not mean customers are left without a point of contact or that reported issues are simply disregarded.
We understand that you are dissatisfied with your experience, but we believe it is important that the record accurately reflect what occurred. The final charges reflected the actual shipment and services required, the mold allegation concerns belongings that had been stored for an extended period, the issue involving other customers' belongings was never reported to us, and compensation was offered for the toolbox damage.
We remain willing to resolve the substantiated toolbox damage claim through the $200 compensation already offered.
First let me start by saying DO NOT…
First let me start by saying DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY. They why and safely are not brokers, but they are they scam you left and right. I was moving from Oregon to Texas. And we had a set price, and we went over with this guy. Multiple times and he said the price would not change. Because we signed the contract. Well then the day they showed up to move our stuff, they wanted to try to charge us6k more than what we sign on the contract and tell us our stuff would not fit in a 26ft truck, but we lived in a 1600 square ft and all he needed a 1076sq ft on the truck. The movers said 90% of the time, this is what happened. And nobody ends up needing their stuff removed because they always end up screwing them on the price. So we end up trying to talk to the guy and told them what was going on. And he said, oh no, let me take care of it this that in the third, no, never did so.We ended up having to go rent a 26 ft truck and hire some guys that we knew to help us load, and we still had half a truck left, and they tried to say, our stuff wouldn't fit in the same size truck. Now they won't give us her deposit back and we're fighting with the bank to get our deposit back as we did not get services. We have text messages and all this proof so we're hoping something happens correctly beause all, they told the bank is that we signed a contract and refused to use them not the whole truth of what really happened. So whatever you do, do not use this company. You will get scammed, left and right, and lied too.

Response from South West Van Lines LLC· Aug 28, 2026
Dear Ashley,
We are sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with your moving experience. However, several statements in your review do not accurately reflect Southwest Van Lines' role in your move or the circumstances surrounding the cancellation.
Southwest Van Lines was the carrier assigned to transport your shipment. The initial pricing, inventory, and booking were arranged through the broker. Most importantly, the deposit referenced in your review was paid to the broker, not to Southwest Van Lines. Southwest Van Lines did not receive or retain your deposit. Therefore, any dispute regarding the refund of that deposit must be addressed with the broker to whom the payment was made.
The initial price was based on the inventory information provided when the move was booked. When our crew arrived, the shipment was assessed based on the actual items presented for transportation and the space and services required to safely load and transport them. A customer's estimate of how much space their belongings should occupy, or the square footage of their home, does not determine the actual cubic footage required on a moving truck.
Your review states that Southwest Van Lines attempted to charge you an additional $6,000. This was not an arbitrary price increase or an attempt to "scam" you. The carrier's responsibility is to document the actual shipment and determine the appropriate transportation requirements based on what is physically presented at pickup.
You ultimately chose not to proceed with the transportation service and rented your own truck instead. However, Southwest Van Lines did arrive prepared to perform the move. It is therefore inaccurate to state that we simply refused to provide service or that you were charged a deposit by Southwest Van Lines for services you did not receive.
We also cannot verify the alleged statement that movers told you this happens "90% of the time." Comments allegedly made about other customers' moves do not establish what occurred with your particular shipment and do not reflect Southwest Van Lines' policies.
We understand that you disagreed with the assessment made at pickup. However, describing Southwest Van Lines as a scam or claiming that we intentionally lied to you is not an accurate representation of the circumstances.
We respect your right to share your experience, but it is important that prospective customers understand the distinction between the broker that arranged and collected payment for the move and Southwest Van Lines, the carrier assigned to perform the transportation.
What an experience. $12,900 to $24,000
I used a broker, it turns out, who told me that they were the actual moving company when I asked. But that's another review. Southwest van lines showed up on the day we were supposed to move, and we had everything boxed up and ready to go. We were under the impression that they would show up, load a semi-truck, and basically be off to our destination in the next couple of days as we were headed out of town as well. What happened was they showed up in a 24-foot enterprise rental truck, which only fed about half of our stuff and said, no, we actually load this and take it to a warehouse and unload it and load it somewhere else. The first hour and a half consisted of them trying to tell us that the quote that we got for $12,900 was way too low and there were too many heavy objects and it was going to take up a lot more space, even though we did over an hour worth of walkthroughs to get the initial quote. They said it was going to be more likely around $24,000 and were naming off all sorts of additions and stuff that was going to cost a lot more, and doubling the space it was going to take. And what can you do when they're there to move your stuff? During the first hour and a half that we were trying to work out the price, half of their guys were carrying off knickknacks and things out of our different piles and putting them in their personal cars as well to take, which was funny. And when I looked at them, they tried to hide it. That group of guys didn't show up the next day. We put air tags in our boxes and realized both enterprise truckloads went into a gigantic pod that was in the middle of a field behind a grocery store, not a warehouse, and it sat there for basically 10 days. I'm assuming, well, they tried to find an actual trucking service who would take it. They told us our $10,000 dining room table was too heavy to move. They said it was going to cost an extra $600 to move. Okay, that's fine. We need a table and we can't leave it. when we told them, Okay, they went back and started talking Russian to their boss on the phone and came back and said, No, actually it's gonna be tw$2400, which was startling.
When we told them, like, we can get help, we have a bunch of people that can come move it. They said, no, that won't work because we have to unload it at the warehouse and reload it somewhere else, and your guys won't be there. So we agreed to pay $2,400 to move a table.
And he went back and started talking Russian to his boss and came back and said, No, it's gonna be like four or five thousand dollars. I'm trying to be your friend, just leave the table or give it away. And it's like, you guys are almost done with this move in 30 minutes.
And now I'm scrambling to find people to either move it or give it to or sell it to.
So we basically ended up leaving our ten thousand dollar dining room table because they wouldn't move it and having to buy a completely new table at our destination. And what's crazy is, after they left, we actually gave it to some neighbors and moved the whole thing ourselves with teenagers. I think the price on the quote that they kept trying to have us sign probably changed five or six times. And I wouldn't sign it, and they told me as they were finishing up that I needed to sign it, and that if I used a credit card, there would be a 5% charge. (They emailed me a week before and the email specifically said, If you want to use a credit card, please let us know in advance, which I did immediately, but it said nothing beyond the five percent charge). Obviously, they want cash or a cashier's check because they know you're getting ripped off and they don't want you to charge it back. So that was a problem as well. Overall total nightmare of a situation. We ended up at our destination for at least ten days sleeping on the floor, hounding them about when they were going to deliver our stuff and they kept changing prices. And each person said they had to check with somebody else who had to check with somebody else, and nobody knew anything.

Response from South West Van Lines LLC· Aug 28, 2026
Dear Isaac,
Thank you for sharing your experience. We understand that you were dissatisfied with the move; however, several statements in your review do not accurately reflect Southwest Van Lines' role or the circumstances of your shipment.
Southwest Van Lines was the carrier assigned to transport your shipment. The original estimate and inventory were established through the broker you hired. The $12,900 price you reference was based on the inventory and information provided during booking. When our crew arrived, the shipment was assessed based on the items actually presented, their size and weight, and the services required to safely transport them. The size of your home or the number of walkthroughs performed does not guarantee a specific amount of truck space.
The carrier cannot be expected to transport a shipment based on an inventory that does not accurately reflect the actual items at pickup. Any additional charges were based on the actual shipment and services required and were not arbitrary price increases.
You also stated that our crew arrived in a 24-foot rental truck and that your belongings were taken to a facility before being transferred for long-distance transportation. Interstate moves can involve multiple stages of transportation, staging, and temporary storage depending on the shipment and route. The use of a smaller truck for pickup does not mean that your belongings were intended to remain on that vehicle for the entire interstate trip.
Regarding your allegation that crew members placed your belongings into their personal vehicles, this was never reported to Southwest Van Lines at the time of pickup, nor were we provided with evidence supporting the allegation. Had a concern of this nature been reported, it would have been taken seriously and investigated. We cannot accept an unsubstantiated allegation of theft as an accurate representation of our operations.
Regarding your dining room table, the ability to transport an unusually heavy or difficult item depends on its weight, dimensions, handling requirements, equipment, and the transportation process. The item's purchase price does not determine the cost or feasibility of moving it. The fact that you ultimately moved the table yourselves does not establish that the carrier could safely transport it without the required handling arrangements.
As for the approximately ten days of staging you referenced, interstate shipments may require temporary storage or staging while transportation is being coordinated and consolidated. This does not mean the shipment was abandoned or that the carrier was simply attempting to find another company to transport it.
Finally, Southwest Van Lines did not arbitrarily change your price or attempt to prevent you from disputing charges. The original quote was provided through the broker, while Southwest Van Lines was the carrier responsible for performing the transportation based on the actual shipment presented at pickup.
We understand that the move did not meet your expectations, but characterizing the situation as an intentional attempt to "rip you off" or alleging that the company deliberately changed prices to prevent a dispute is not an accurate representation of the facts available to us.
We respect your right to share your experience, but we believe it is important that prospective customers understand the distinction between the broker that arranged the move and Southwest Van Lines, the carrier assigned to transport the shipment.
Had to call the police
First I got stuck with this company because I was stupid and used a moving broker...but that's another review! They showed up and decided their truck was too big for my neighborhood even though traffic was driving by the other side of the truck and the driver was already in place to start unloading. Then they decide they are going to hold my household goods hostage until I pay them another $1053 for a shuttle move, even though the driver was already were he could start unloading and made the decision unilaterally to leave. So when they came back I called the police for a police report because this is obviously going to court. When the police showed up, the driver told the two poor workers he hired to hide in the truck and say nothing! This place must obviously place false reviews. Oh, and when they picked my stuff up in Houston, they just started loading the furniture and boxes without me bing there to check everything off. Funny enough, stuff went missing. This company is dishonest and if you decide to use them after this review...you deserve what you get.

Response from South West Van Lines LLC· Aug 28, 2026
Sir, with all due respect your review is full of lies... You told the driver yourself that he won't make it to your residence on a commercial trailer and as soon as you learned about the shuttle service fee-you flipped the whole thing and started telling that shuttle is not needed. We scratched our truck with the tree branches and almost got a ticket for parking on a two way street and blocking the traffic for your convenience!!! And quit making up stories! No one hid behind the truck. Quite a storyteller you are !
NEVER AGAIN!! They made my move an absolutely terrible experience.
NEVER AGAIN!! They made my move an absolutely terrible experience.
I would absolutely never recommend this moving company. They are shady and use different means to extract money from you through the process. They aren't transparent about the process at all and would often tell you what you need to hear in order to move on.
These guys were assigned to me through a broker, and it was just a terrible experience all through - mismatching contracts between the two, and hidden fees at pickup and delivery that weren't brought up before. They gave me the impression my things would be delivered on a specific date, but it wasn't. They made me pay hundreds of dollars more at delivery because they brought a truck that was the size of two semis and it couldn't fit in our parking lot. Instead of bringing the things in a regular sized moving truck which would've fit, they made it my problem to pay for the "long distance carry".
If you must use this company, I'd recommend getting a lawyer and reading through every single line of the contract. They hide things there and just gloss over it claiming that everything is "standard".

Response from South West Van Lines LLC· Aug 28, 2026
Thank you for sharing your experience. We are sorry that you were dissatisfied with your move; however, several statements in your review do not accurately reflect Southwest Van Lines' role or the circumstances of your shipment.
As you noted, Southwest Van Lines was assigned to your move through a broker. The broker handled the original booking, estimate, and contractual arrangements presented to you. Southwest Van Lines was the carrier responsible for transporting and delivering your shipment. Any differences you perceived between documents provided by the broker and the carrier should not be characterized as Southwest Van Lines intentionally providing "mismatching contracts" or attempting to conceal information.
Regarding the additional charges at pickup and delivery, these are based on the actual services and circumstances encountered during the move. Delivery charges can vary when conditions at the destination require additional handling. In particular, when a moving truck cannot safely or legally access the customer's property or designated unloading location because of space, parking, clearance, or other site conditions, the shipment may require a long-distance carry or other additional handling.
The fact that a smaller truck may have physically fit in a particular parking area does not mean that the assigned equipment could safely or practically be positioned there. The carrier must operate within the limitations of the equipment used and the conditions at the delivery location. These additional handling requirements are not a means of "extracting money" from customers.
Regarding your statement that you were given a specific delivery date, interstate moves are generally subject to a delivery window and transportation scheduling rather than a guaranteed date unless specifically documented otherwise. The carrier cannot reasonably be held responsible for an expectation that was not part of the carrier's contractual delivery obligation.
We also disagree with the characterization that Southwest Van Lines is "shady," hides fees, or intentionally tells customers what they want to hear. Charges are based on the services required to complete the move, and customers should review the applicable documents and terms before authorizing additional services.
We understand that you were unhappy with the experience, but we believe it is important to distinguish between the broker that arranged your move and Southwest Van Lines, the carrier that performed the transportation. The circumstances you describe do not establish that Southwest Van Lines intentionally concealed fees or acted dishonestly.
We respect your right to share your experience, but we stand by our obligation to charge for the actual services required to safely complete the transportation and delivery of your shipment.
STAY AWAY!!
STAY AWAY!!! EJ Strong armed my 79 year old mom at pickup for 2500 more day of move. Showed up at 4 pm till 2 am. Dragged furniture across ground. Mr.Packwood,
We sincerely apologize for your bad experience. Our goal is to make all of our customers satisfied. The review that you left us is not accurate. And you left a lot of things out.
Had you provided the complete list of inventory to the brokerage-your estimate would have stayed the same
When the contract was being finalized-you told the driver that you will not be able to accept delivery right away. Hence 16 days of waiting from your pickup date.
As far as the damages go-we are willing to take responsibility but going on here and saying that all of our reviews that we worked hard for are fake is not nice! Swearing and telling nasty things to the driver when he arrives and greets you is also not nice
Again we apologize for the damages. We have a dedicated claim department to walk you through the process
