I rented a location in their Rosemead facility and it was a solid experience.

I rented a unit at SecureSpace Self Storage North Hollywood after specifically asking whether they would move me in at one rate and then sharply increase it soon afterward. I was told there would be no increase for approximately seven to eight months and that any later increase would be small or minimal. Based on that representation, I moved my property into the facility. The promotional rate was $90 for May and June. The written agreement listed the regular monthly rate as $180. I paid $180 for July, which was my first full month at that regular rate. Before July was even over, SecureSpace sent me notice that the rent would increase to $315 effective September 1. That is a 75% increase over the stated $180 regular rate after only one month at that rate. The sequence gave me the clear impression that the $180 rate was used to get me moved into the facility, with the expectation that the rate would be sharply increased once moving out became expensive and inconvenient. When I complained, I was first offered $285 and later $247.50. They also stated that rate reviews typically occur every four to twelve months, even though my increase was issued about three months after move-in. Their contract also contains a poorly completed promotional disclosure stating that the promotional rate would last for “6/30/2026 months,” which is not a clear statement of duration. The unit itself is clean, climate controlled, and otherwise good. That is why this pricing practice is so disappointing. I would have remained a satisfied customer at the stated $180 regular rate. Customers should understand that the advertised and stated regular rate may not last more than a month before a major increase is imposed.

SecureSpace Coral Gables Florida had a leader price of $17 stating that it could double after 90 days. I got the storage unit in February and in July it is $58. They sent a letter and increased the rate much higher than they said.

My personal belongings were stolen from a SecureSpace facility. I later found them on eBay. After reaching out to facility staff about this matter and expressing concerns about their security practices, I was told by the facility manager that there wasn't anything wrong with their security, and any concerns I had brought up based on my belongings being stolen were dismissed as my "opinion". I was getting a rental increase at the end of that month, and when I had asked for a freeze in light of this situation, I was told that the rent increase would occur whether theft was proven/had occurred or not. I filed a police report. When I reached out to their Customer Care email line (the same one they tell everyone to message on negative reviews when there's an issue), I got absolutely nothing substantive, and they're riding out the timeline of the BBB complaint when I directly confronted them to explain HOW someone could have bypassed the locks that they assured me couldn't be opened without a drill. I just hope that gives everyone who reads this an idea of this company's customer service and security practices. My stuff was stolen right from under their noses and they're fighting me on it, instead of explaining themselves or trying to come to some kind of amicable solution.

I have had a 10x14 storage unit at this facility for just over a year and, in that time, my rental fee has been increased by more than 150%. When we started, my "introductory rate" was $103 and the following month it was $183. 3 months later, it was increased to $246 and, at the beginning of this year it was increased again to $279. There is an ongoing promotion and special introductory rate combo where the same size unit is $51 for the first 2 months (the promotion states "Half Off 2 Months") and then $102 after that. Upon seeing this, I thought I might go into the facility to try to negotiate my rental and was met with absolutely no flexibility. I was told that the current promotion and subsequent rental fee was only a promotion and did not represent the complete cost of the unit. When I asked if there was anything they would be willing to do to work with me, they simply stated that rent increases are normal for everyone and they were unable to make any adjustments.
