Marketing vs. Reality: 5-year member moving my money elsewhere
Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union claims to be a "financial cooperative intent on helping members save time, save money and earn money." After being a member for five years, my actual experience reveals a completely different reality. "Save Time & Money?" I deposited a check drawn from my own account at another bank into my RBFCU account. They pulled the funds 14 days ago, yet they still placed an "extended fraud hold" on my money. I went directly to the branch to resolve it, and I’ve called multiple times—only to be placed on hold for 45 minutes to an hour every single time. Holding cleared funds and wasting hours of a member's time is the exact opposite of what they promise. "Helping achieve your goals?" Four months ago, I applied for an auto loan. Despite a credit score close to 800 and a 5-year relationship with the credit union, RBFCU denied my application. I went straight to Honda right after, and they approved me immediately at a 2.5% APR. RBFCU markets itself as a member-focused alternative to traditional banks, but their actions demonstrate extreme bureaucracy, terrible customer support, and a total lack of trust in long-term members. Save yourself the headache and stay away from this institution.
