Here is the Islamic ruling explained simply: 📌 Situation You were in Makkah for ‘Umrah, and a pigeon was killed unintentionally. ⚖️ Islamic ruling (Fiqh) In the Haram of Makkah, hunting or killing animals (including pigeons) is not allowed, even if it happens by mistake. But since it was unintentional, there is no sin on you. Allah says: “There is no blame upon you for what you do by mistake…” (Qur’an 33:5) 💰 What is required (Fidyah / compensation)? Even though there is no sin, compensation is still required. For a pigeon in the Haram: You must do one of the following: ✅ Give charity equal to the value of a pigeon, or ✅ Buy food with its price and feed the poor of Makkah 📌 The amount is usually small and can be given through: A local charity in Makkah Someone trustworthy there Or by estimating the price and donating to poor people with the intention of fidyah of Haram ❌ What is NOT required ❌ No sacrifice (qurbani) is required ❌ No fasting is required ❌ No sin because it was accidental 🕊️ Summary ✔ Killing was unintentional → no sin ✔ Because it happened in Haram → compensation required ✔ Give charity equal to the price of a pigeon ✔ Repentance is recommended but not obligatory If you want, you can tell me: Was it completely accidental (for example, car, door, stepping unknowingly)? Or did it happen during Ihram? I can then give you the exact ruling according to Hanafi fiqh (commonly followed in Pakistan).
