About Precise Syntax

Every manuscript has its own voice, purpose, and audience. At Precise Syntax, my goal is to help writers strengthen their work without losing what makes it uniquely theirs.I’m Telani Lasoleille, a professional copyeditor working with indie authors, self-publishers, small presses, and academic writers across the United States. I specialize in copyediting, proofreading, and beta reading for fiction manuscripts as well as academic and research-based writing in animal behavior sciences. My work is grounded in clarity, consistency, and collaboration—never heavy-handed editing. For fiction authors, I provide editing support across a range of genres, including thrillers, mysteries, fantasy, horror, young adult, and crime fiction. Whether you’re refining pacing in a suspense novel, strengthening character voice, or preparing a manuscript for publication, my editing process is designed to enhance readability while preserving your narrative style. In addition to fiction editing, I offer specialized editing for academic manuscripts in animal behavior and applied sciences. Before becoming a full-time editor, I worked in animal behavior and positive reinforcement training and hold a graduate certificate in Applied Animal Behavior. That background allows me to approach scientific and research writing with an understanding of both technical accuracy and clear communication.Precise Syntax offers transparent, per-word pricing, flexible payment plans, and a collaborative editing process. Every project begins with an initial review so expectations are clear, followed by tailored feedback based on your manuscript’s goals and audience. Writers can also request a free sample edit to ensure the approach is a good fit before committing.Editing should feel like a partnership, not a red pen showdown. Whether you’re preparing a novel for readers or refining a research manuscript for publication, Precise Syntax is here to help you present your work with confidence, clarity, and integrity.
