Extremely disappointing and misleading trial experience.
Extremely disappointing and misleading trial experience. I signed up because Oria prominently advertises a 7-day free trial on its landing page. Naturally, I expected to have seven days to actually test the product before being charged. Instead, I discovered that the trial is also limited by a very small token allowance, and once those tokens are consumed, the subscription can immediately move into the paid plan — even if you have only just started the trial. In my case, I used Oria through Claude to create a 13-slide presentation. According to the usage information shown to me, rendering the 13 slides consumed 13 tokens, and exporting those same 13 slides to editable PowerPoint consumed another 13 tokens. That is 26 tokens for creating and exporting a single 13-slide deck. What frustrates me most is not simply the price. It is the way the trial is communicated. The “7-day free trial” is prominently marketed upfront, while understanding that the trial can effectively end based on token consumption requires users to dig further into the pricing information/FAQ. This is a material condition of the trial and, in my view, it should be disclosed just as prominently as the “7-day free trial” claim. A reasonable user seeing “7-day free trial” may expect seven days to evaluate the product. I certainly did not expect that testing one normal-sized PowerPoint deck could consume the trial allowance and trigger billing almost immediately. I actually wanted to evaluate Oria seriously because the Claude/MCP workflow looked promising. Instead, my first experience was worrying about token consumption and an unexpected charge.
