Hi Quinn, thank you so much for your positive feedback! We're thrilled to hear you're satisfied with your experience with Nexamp. It's always our goal to provide transparent, helpful service and to ensure you have all the information you need.
I had no problem with Nexamp until I attempted to leave their service. In June of 2024 I informed Nexamp that I was selling my house soon and that I wanted to cancel my account with them. I was informed that I might be billed for usage up to that date and that it might take up to 90 days to clear the account. So I expected to receive bills up to September. When I received another bill in October I was outraged and had unsatisfactory conversations with a couple of different representatives. I thought it was over but here it is November and I just received another bill. So my advice is to find a company other than Nexamp to get your solar energy from. They are easy to start with, easy to live with, but impossible to leave. Their business model seems to me to be along the lines of soaking the customer for as long as possible. The 90 day leaving interval is not real.

Hello Gus, Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience. We sincerely apologize for the frustration and inconvenience you've encountered during your cancelation process. At Nexamp, we aim to make each step—from sign-up to cancelation—as straightforward as possible, and we regret that your experience didn’t meet these standards. To clarify, Nexamp bills in arrears, meaning that the invoices you’re receiving correspond to solar credits that appeared on your utility bill several months prior. For this reason, it’s helpful to focus on the “production periods” listed on your Nexamp invoices, as these indicate when the solar energy was generated and credited to your account, rather than the invoice dates alone. Please note that we wait for confirmation from your utility that all solar credits were applied to your utility costs before we send an invoice with your discount. This verification process would ensure that you are only paying for credits you used, prior to your move out date. We understand how this can be challenging, and we are continuously working to improve the clarity of our billing process to better support our customers. One of our team members will be reaching out to review your account in detail with you and ensure all outstanding questions are addressed. We appreciate your patience and understanding. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention.
My experience was as bad, or worse, as the other 1-star ratings. I'd signed up for community solar once in the past and it seemed to work out well. This time, just the solar electric bill jumped to 3 or 4 times what it was when I was just using CMP(Central Maine Power). My Nexamp bill(~$120) was 4 times the CMP bill(~$25). And ... my CMP bill never went down. This is starting in June of 2024. I consulted with a Nexamp representative, and by the end of the call, all she could say was if it is not working out, we have no problem with you canceling. I could not get any real explanation. As of now, November 3rd 2024, I am still getting even more exorbitant bills from Nexamp - $140+ for July and August. Granted, I was in my apartment part-time, running A/C. Again, this has not reduced my CMP bill. When will I stop getting these ridiculous bills from Nexamp?!

Hello Benjamin, Thank you for reaching out and sharing your feedback. We’re sorry for any confusion around your recent CMP bills and Nexamp credits. We understand that the way our credits interact with your utility charges can be complex, and we appreciate your patience as we clarify. Nexamp’s community solar program provides renewable energy credits that reduce your CMP electricity usage costs at a discount. These credits are generally most plentiful in the summer, helping to offset winter electricity needs when solar production is lower. Due to this seasonal fluctuation, we typically recommend that customers review their savings on an annual basis rather than month-to-month. Regarding the recent $25 CMP charge, please note that this is a standard service fee from CMP and is separate from the usage costs offset by Nexamp’s solar credits. Also, Nexamp only issues an invoice once we receive confirmation that your utility has applied these credits to your account. We want to make sure you can easily track your savings and address any remaining questions, so we’ll reach out directly to discuss your account details further. Thank you again for connecting with us – we’re here to help!
