Books printed on BLACK PAPERBy combining beauty and aesthetics with literature, we’ve developed a unique experience that makes reading more enjoyable. Printed and bound using centuries-old techniques, traditions, and technologies, each special edition will represent a piece of history. These processes are longer, harder, and more expensive than ordinary printing, but the final result is something extraordinarily beautiful.

I love the paper and overall good quality. My only reason for not giving four stars (there is no such thing as five stars which equals perfect in my thoughts) is that the website should be much clearer that leather fiber doesn't mean a soft, nor even semi soft , leather. Its still a hardback but refers to a leathery surface of that hard back. Other than that this product is pretty cool and unique. The words inside the book however deserve five stars.

This is an updated review of my purchase from Monochrome Books. I purchased a copy of the premier title offered by the publisher and the book didn’t arrive in the allotted time. I posted a disgruntled review and figured I was Pooched. I was totally wrong. I received an email on Monday, July 4th from Mr. Luis Ferro, Company CEO explaining my options as well as the steps that he had already put into action. My book arrived as per his plan and I must say how impressed I am with both the beautiful book and the honesty of Mr. Luis Ferro. We all fumble the ball but the way this company’s CEO treated my issue was a benchmark for good customer service…he sent me an email on the 4th of July and for an American company that is just amazing! I love the quality of the product, I am already waiting to purchase the next title, but more than that, I trust this company. I recommend both.

The overall look of the book is nice, however for the price that I paid for it, I would have expected the cover to be at least leather bound.

Dear Chad, my name is Luis Ferro and I am the founder of Monochrome Books. I would like to comment your review, where you state that you are not very satisfied with your purchase of Meditations by Marcus Aurelius printed on Black Paper. More specifically, you feel that for the price you payed the book should have at least a leather cover. The price of the book reflects the fact that printing a book on black paper is tremendously expensive. The black paper costs much more than regular paper, the printing system must be specifically calibrated to handle white ink, the operator must be highly skilled, and the list goes on. We have spent a long time and a lot of money on tests and research. On our website, we wrote that the book uses Wibalinin black paper for the cover and not leather. A leather bounded edition would be much more expensive, over $400, because it would have to be hand-bounded. I hope that this explanation clarifies why the price of the book is so high. However, if you are really not satisfied, you can always return the book to us. We offer a 30 day return policy, no questions asked. Just send me a short email and we will proceed with the devolution. Thanks, Luis Ferro
Book arrived ahead of schedule and in excellent condition.
