This is exactly what I was looking for! The workshop gave me such great ideas for addressing student misconceptions, and I can’t wait to put them into practice.

The Word Problems Workshop gave me so many great tips - I can't wait till Monday when I can implement the 5-step program. We are ready to get our hands dirty!!!

Mona Iehl has been an exceptional partner to our school and a true asset to our teaching team. Over the past two years, her thoughtful coaching, classroom observations, and targeted feedback have helped our teachers not only improve their math instruction but grow as overall educators. One teacher put it best: “I’m not just a better math teacher—I’m a better teacher because of what I’ve learned from Mona.” Her feedback is always constructive, organized, and immediately actionable. Thanks to her guidance, we now deliver our math curriculum with consistency and fidelity across every grade, K–8. The results speak for themselves—our students are more confident, more engaged, and showing real growth in their understanding of and excitement for math. Mona’s impact is deep and lasting. We’re grateful for the way she elevates both teaching and learning in our community.

Working with Mona has made mine and my students' perspectives of math change completely. What used to be monotonous lessons are now filled with productive struggle, reasoning, critical thinking, problem solving discussions and so much more. Mona's knowledge of math and classroom experiences have taught me the importance of letting the students take the reigns and lead themselves through the processes to solve. Rather than just knowing the the algorithm, my students can articulate how or why they are doing something in the mathematical process. Meeting with Mona weekly has provided me many opportunities to grow my own math learning and further my development as a math teacher. I cannot recommend working with Mona enough if you also want to see growth within your students and yourself.

I'm looking forward to using Mona's problem solving framework with my 1st and 2nd grade students. Too often as educators, we tend to over scaffold to "support" our students. After participating in Mona's workshop, I can see the importance of giving students time to think for themselves and to grapple with that thinking in order to become more successful problem solvers.

I used to think it was efficient to use the gradual release model while teaching math but Mona's professional development session about Math Words and Discussions has given me tools and helped me see how you can support students and make sense of math word problems!

Math Learning with Math Words and Discussions/Word Problem Workshop was very informative. Numerous examples and reasons for the workshop or way of solving word problems was provided. The presenter was very knowledgable.

If you want to elevate your students' math ability, there is no one better than Mona. Her math knowledge, questioning, and student led style is essential for students of all ages. My students have grown exponentially in terms of their genuine understanding of the hows and whys of math. They can do more than just solve the problem procedurally. Word Problem Workshop is a must for all classrooms of all ages. Mona is incredibly easy to work with, easy to communicate with, and willing to help all students and educators.
