I Came Looking for Relief. I Found So Much More.
I came to We Are The Women at a time when I was deeply burned out in my career and still feeling raw from exhaustion and grief after losing my mother. I happened across one of Julie Santiago’s Instagram ads about “not quitting your job (yet),” and when she described the traits that can make women highly successful but can also become our foils (perfectionism, people pleasing, over-functioning…) I saw myself. I signed up for Awaken, but I was skeptical. VERY skeptical. Everyone promises a cure for what ails you, and I couldn’t believe this program could meaningfully change my life. I was also suspicious I might encounter the kind of “woo-woo” that usually sends me running in the opposite direction. But I decided to let go of being judgy and really engage with the work. And something changed. Awaken helped me recognize my own agency in the life I had created. With support, I made real changes that reduced my burnout and changed how I thought about work, boundaries, confidence, leadership, and myself. I continued into Rise because I wanted to keep that momentum and go deeper. The Rise retreat at Lost Pines was an incredible, energizing experience. It reminded me how life-giving it is to intentionally step away - and how profoundly important relationships among women can be. The women I’ve met through this community are some of the most courageous I’ve ever encountered: kind, fierce, loving, supportive, smart women. Julie and the We Are The Women coaches (Heather, Shana, Shayna) and staff are exceptional. They model an extraordinary kind of strength - the kind that comes from being deeply vulnerable and completely willing to show up as themselves. They are brave and open-hearted, fierce in their commitment to women’s growth, and continually invite us to go deeper - not by telling us who we should become, but by helping us discover more fully who we already are. I came into We Are The Women looking for relief from job burnout. What I found was the ability to re-open my soul to life, and in doing so become more of the woman, and more of the leader I always was but was afraid to be. Even better, I found a sisterhood of women whose presence and leadership make the world better. If you know you want more from your life than where you currently find yourself - and you’re willing to really engage with and trust the work - I wholeheartedly recommend We Are The Women.
