Johnny's Selected SeedsReviews of johnnyseeds.com

Expensive. cost per seed is high, shipping is really high. Customer service? Not great as they cater to professional companies, not home gardeners. Seed packets are super flimsy - more than once I've picked one up with a wet glove and the envelope fell apart. The printing on the outside of the packet often rubs off as well. Finally they advertise "free shipping" but then double down on pricey "extra shipping surcharges"

I want to share my positive experience with Johnny’s Selected Seeds customer service. I purchased 10 Chandler blueberry plants. When I received them, the plants were in excellent condition. Unfortunately, most of the plants later died, and the remaining few were in very poor condition. I want to clarify that I believe this may have been because I did not care for the plants properly or due to my own negligence. I do not want to suggest that the plants arrived in poor condition or that their condition was necessarily Johnny’s fault. I contacted Johnny’s customer service to report the situation and later provided the video I had recorded showing the condition of the remaining plants. A customer service representative personally called me and explained that Chandler blueberry plants would be available again around December. Rather than making me wait for replacement plants or giving me store credit, Johnny’s refunded the entire purchase amount directly to my original payment card. I really appreciate the way Johnny’s handled my situation. They listened to my concern, followed up with me personally, and resolved the issue fairly and professionally. This customer service experience is the main reason I wanted to take the time to share this positive review. It genuinely made me happy to see a company stand behind its customers and handle a situation with such care. I have purchased seeds and plants from Johnny’s before, and based on my experience, I will continue to consider Johnny’s a trustworthy company for gardeners and growers. Thank you to the Johnny’s Selected Seeds customer service team for taking care of your customer!

Customer service

I have ordered seeds from this company a few times and I have achieved good results, about 95% germination, approximately 75% on final outcomes , ( sunflowers ). Pricing is a little high but for what it’s worth compared to buying seeds at a feed store , or big retail stores , or other companies on line it is worth your time and money to get good results in your garden. I will continue to purchase from Johnnys seeds.

We have been ordering seeds from Johnny's Seeds for almost 10 years. All of the seeds we purchased have been of high quality and germination rates have exceeded expectations even those stored for years. The customer service is great and orders ship quickly. As a commercial grower we have never had a bad experience. Shipping costs have gone up over the years, but the seeds are worth every penny. Sometimes you can get coupons online that will help out on the costs. They also offer growing instructions and seed test results which aid in successful crop production. We highly recommend Johnny's Seeds to anyone looking for high quality true to type seeds.

I purchased this year’s tomato seeds from Johnny’s seeds and this will be the last. The Gin Fizz and Brandywine variety has expressed irregular growth and the tomatoes from the Gin Fixz variety are mutated. I contacted the company and was told that it was rot and a calcium deficiency which is straight up garbage! I’ve been growing tomatoes for 30 years and instead of owning the quality concern, they blame the customer! Don’t do it! Those photos are AI and not real

I wish I had checked Trustpilot before ordering from Johnny's seeds! I ordered about 5 packets of seeds for $60.00!! Extremely overpriced, but I was looking for organic and non gmo. I have brand new raised beds that I put together and after starting the seeds in trays, I planted them in my new expensive raised beds. I bought yellow crookneck squash. When they started to get bigger I wasn't surprised until the fruit started growing. They were not yellow crookneck squash, they were white pumpkins!!! They took forever to answer a message I left on their website, and when they did and I was able to send pictures, it then took a very long time for them to answer me. By then I thought they had blown me off! Then eventually I get an email that says they will send me some yellow squash seeds. What the hell am I supposed to do with them now?? I bought the seeds in March. I just received my replacement yellow squash seeds today July 6, 2026! I suggest strongly that you don't buy anything from this company. They don't give a damn about their customers, and they can't even get the right seed in the correct envelope. I have warned my garden club away from this company! Very very disappointed!!!

I can see why Johnny Selected Seeds has such bad reviews. Unfortunately I didn’t check them before I ordered from this company. A friend had recommended them, but it has been awful. First of all they are expensive and charge for shipping unless it’s a very high dollar amount order. The shipping takes forever. When I got my package of two hoes I purchased all I received was the two heads and no poles. I was surprised and thought that makes it even more expensive. I purchased two poles from ACE. Over a week later I received another package that had the poles. Nowhere in the first box I received was there anything saying this was one of two packages. The notices they emailed me did not state this was one of two packages. When I called to complain they were totally unsympathetic, so much for 100% satisfaction guaranteed. Simply awful
