Not to be trusted
Like other reviewers, I have now had two issues of misleading pricing / bait-and-switch type of instances with InstaWP and it's got to the point where I need to share my experiences to warn others. InstaWP seem to have repeated issues with language, nuance and misleading customers.
Issue 1 - misleading Black Friday deal.
Their website claimed 50% off when signing up for an annual plan on Black Friday. All of their information on their website said "$95 yearly". Quoting directly from upgrade page: "You are changing your plan to Pro Yearly, you will be charged $95.00 on yearly basis." But later, I find the discount is only for the first year, but this was not written anywhere at all. If the deal is for the first year, then say it. As it wasn't, my expectations were higher, and the customer response was poor at best. They didn't honour the deal, the confusing language stayed on their website for a few weeks. I cancelled the plan and got a refund.
Issue 2 - misleading free credits scam.
Luckily I didn't sign up to their yearly Pro plan, as in July they scrapped those plans and introduced a Pay as you go system. They advertised $25 free credits if you added a credit card. Sounds good - I added my card, got the credit, invited a staff member, and started creating sites.
The weird part? The credit balance never went down. End of July - no invoice. End of August - I get charged $12? Huh? But my account still clearly shows “$25 credits.” Literally I login and the credit is still there.
When I contacted support, they told me: “Your credits expired after 60 days. The bill was issued on day 61, so the credits were gone.” That logic makes no sense. All my usage was within the 60-day period. The only reason the credits weren’t applied was because their billing system ignored them until after expiry. That’s not a free credit experience - that’s a trap.
Instead of apologizing and fixing it, support kept pointing to the fine print. That’s dishonest and misleading. If you’re going to advertise credits, they should apply to actual usage, not vanish on the technicality of when an invoice is generated. The agent honestly claimed "we are customer focused company" even though they hadn't apologise or really understood their mistake at that point. After much of my time wasted back and forth, I got a refund.
Overall
The product works, albeit for my use cases (spinning up sites quickly to test a plugin or customer feedback) gets expensive compared with hosting plans from most hosts. I get it - InstaWP took VC investment so they need to make money. But my experience with InstaWP has been consistently disappointing because expectations are not being met, with repeated patterns of misleading pricing and deceptive promotions. The company has shown a lack of transparency and accountability. Even when confronted, their customer support leaned on fine print rather than resolving issues honestly and quickly. These tactics amount to bait-and-switch behavior, and despite eventually receiving refunds, most people wouldnt be as pedantic as me, and the time and frustration wasted make InstaWP a service I cannot recommend.
UPDATE: Even though InstaWP replied immediately to my review and knew which transactions were mine, they contested the validity of this review with TrustPilot in the hopes of getting it removed. In their response to my review - they claim they offered me a refund and credits, this is not true. In the latest incident, I was eventually offered credits instead of a refund, and only after pushing again was a refund offered and accepted. This is not the behaviour of a trustworthy company.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.
We'd like to clarify that in both of your past concerns. We promptly offered full refunds and offered additional credits as a goodwill gesture. At no point were your requests denied.
We agree that we should invest more in making our marketing communication more obvious. It is important to note that publicly labeling our business as misleading or deceptive is not an accurate reflection of how we operate, especially when refunds and credits were provided immediately in both instances.
We remain committed to transparency, fair treatment, and resolving concerns swiftly - as demonstrated in your own case.
Thank you for trying InstaWP.
platform is VERY buggy
platform is VERY, VERY buggy. I have to contact the support team every day when I try to use the wordpress sites in one way or another: SSL Error, RAM issue, etc. Their support people are nice, but I might as well bring them into the office because I have to use them every day I try to work.
