I'm probably one of the first members…
I'm probably one of the first members of Impact Health Sharing and enrolled in early 2020. My traditional insurance cost was up to $800 a month at that time for 10k deductible. I signed up with Impact knowing it wasn't true health insurance, but I felt it offered a viable alternative at about 1/3rd the cost at that time for a $2500 annual "deductible". I was always healthy, but in January 2024 I was diagnosed with highly malignant prostate cancer. I religiously followed the Impact guidelines by getting pre-authorization when required and making sure bills were submitted properly. Other than my out-of-pocket requirements, the medical expenses of around $80,000 were paid without any issues. It was a positive experience during a very stressful time. I am in remission now and doing well. I begin Medicare soon and without any hesitation, I will be transitioning to Impact's "senior" plan for my Medicare "gap" coverage. There is no perfect health coverage out there, but my Impact experience has been much better than what I went through with traditional high-deductible health insurance plans. I have had nothing but positive dealings with Impact and their customer support have always been kind, respectful and helpful when I need a question answered or help in any way.
