Medicare "Advantage". May be the largest misnomer you ever encounter. My neighbors had an advantage plan when the gentleman came down with Alzheimer's. They quickly discovered the "advantage" plan paid nothing for Alzheimer's. He ended up in an assisted care facility for $4,400.00 a month. Fortunately they could afford it, until he passed, but it almost broke them. I get sick and tired of all the constant, annoying Medicare Supplement insurance commercials, over and over all day every day touting what all they 'GIVE" you. Remember - the most important question to ask is "What They Do Not Cover". If they won't tell you - Hang Up. If you want to get honest answers, I suggest finding an "Independent" insurance agent. When you call the number on the screen, you are talking to an insurance agent who works for the company in the ad. I wonder how many Billions of dollars are spent on these ads ever year that could go to lowering their premiums? Now FYI Medicare Supplement Insurance has several "letter" designations. In Illinois, where I live, Plan "G" has to pay for everything Medicare covers, except the deductible and I believe the Doctor deductible. Plan "F" is the same, but covers all deductibles. I would advise checking your state for these plans if your interested and can afford one of them. They are more expensive, but cover much more if you need a lot of expensive care and hospital visits.

Customer Service is atrocious. They give you the runaround, the agents are not knowledgeable and many especially with heavy foreign accents read quickly off of a script. When asked a question they don't seem to grasp it and just repeat a script. If you ask them for anything, they ask their supervisor and the answer you get suggests they are trying to get rid of you. If you ask to speak to a supervisor, they say, no one is here. The complaints dept. takes months to answer a simple complaint. It is done by design, if your complaint is regarding making an exception for your condition, it takes months to get a reply. By then, you have less time to get the treatment. Also, they totally disregard Insurance Regulation 50. In my case, I used up my dental allowance but my dentist up coded an extraction, which is insurance fraud. Humana's answer was that since I exhausted my allowance, my dispute is with the Provider, Humana is out of the picture, we won't help you. Regulation 95 explicitly states that even in my case where I exhausted my allowance, Humana still has the responsibility to investigate insurance fraud, the provider can charge me out-of -pocket but it can only charge me the contracted cost that Humana and the provider agreed upon. In other words, the only thing that's changed is that I have to pay out of pocket. Customer Service and the Complaints Dept. denied any involvement because I exhausted my allowance. They violated Regulation 95 showing they have no respect for the law. The answers you get from complaints dept. are incomplete. They grant an exception for a therapy sessions but they deliberately do not state how many sessions you are entitled to which they are obligated to do. So you have to file another complaint which further stretches the timeline. Their website is confusing. I find myself going in circles. They have Humana, my Humana, the mail order pharmacy, EyeMed for vision. It's a hodgepodge of information and then they stick a recipe in the middle of a page which is irrelevant. The other people are right - customer service, staff, and service deserve -5 stars. I hope and pray that I find another Medicare Advantage program for next year. Thank you , Trustpilot for providing this service. After my experience with a company I call inhumane, at least I can warn others to look elsewhere for Medicare Advantage programs. I wouldn't even mind paying more just to avoid Humana.

I cant get away from them fast enough. Daily harassing phone calls with stupid questions they hardly cover anything the copays are ridiculous i am on disability how do u think i can afford all the copays they charge terrible customer service i am just done

I became a new member on 8/1. On 8/3 my very first contact with Humana was a foreign speaking woman asking for my protected health information. Why have we educated people for 30 years to protect their health information via HIPPAA only to have the insurance company now calling us outright to ask for this information without written consent. They have enough protected health information on file.

Horrible Customer service and InHouse Insurance Agents. The latest horrible experience was with an insurance agent with Humana not a contractor. She lied about the plan. Pretended to have answers. Would not return calls or emails. I reported it as a complaint. HUMANA DOES NOT CARE ABOUT PEOPLE. THEY ARE ABOUT MONEY. The customer service is the worst. They don't know what they are talking about. Then waste your time for 40 to 60 min only to file a ticket. Just say "I don't know" file the ticket. I feel sorry for the many people older in their 70's or much older who suffer as a result of this failure by Humana. I can't wait until open enrollment. Out the door they go. The only thing is most of them are the same. The agents work on commission I assume only want the money. Again, it is not the best of the bunch. I would not recommend Humana to anyone. Never.

I've had this plan for three months now. So far, so good. My MAJOR complaint is that they call me EVERY DAY, sometimes TWO or THREE times a day. What nitwit(s) at the corporate level think this is acceptable? They've already been sued in a class action suit for this harassment.

Don't do it! Look around! They will say what ever you want to hear and lie about your actual benefits! They are notorious for denying medication.

DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR LIES. I signed up for Humana’s “Medicare Advantage” believe me, their is NO ADVANTAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Boy they really talk it up when they’re trying to sell you. The reality is: The co-pays eat you alive. Their “network” is so narrow I’ve had to drive 20 miles “FARTHER” just because the provider (2 miles away)I usually go to is out of network. PORKED ONCE AGAIN BY HEALTH INSURANCE Trying to call customer service is a complete joke! Usually it’s someone who doesn’t know what they are doing. Most of them have screaming children and barking dogs in the background. Very unprofessional. Is this what we are supposed to put up with?? PORKED ONCE AGAIN BY HEALTH INSURANCE
