Recently, I registered for an auction through Live Auctioneers. My registration remained in pending status throughout the auction. Thereafter, I inquired with no response. I have no open disputes with their auction house nor with Live Auctioneers. I am greatly disappointed by the unprofessionalism.

I was curious about selling an item worth around 10k, contacted Heritage Auctions and filled out their form to get back to me. I never received an email or phone call back so after a while of waiting I called and found out they didn’t even bother trying to evaluate it or get back to me because it was “not in the six figures.” I asked for any recommendations for auction houses that work with my value of item and he proceeded to laugh for the next couple minutes. Maybe I got a douchebag on the phone or maybe this is how they all act, I will not know because I’ll never even think of using Heritage Auction House again. Update: About 5 hours after I posted this review I did finally get an email back from someone. Their free appraisal I received was that it did not meet their requirements value wise. I emailed back about the appraisal Yet no reply. Guess I’m left to appraise it myself. Not professional in the slightest.

Customer service is worthless.

This is the worst coin auction business out there. They are very arrogant and rude to their customers. Stack’s or Great Collections are much, much better. Make sure to check their terms closely. Good luck. Stay away from HA and tell others too.

I have been a customer for a couple decades. Recently, Maryland made a change to its tax law about not collecting sales tax on coin/bullion transactions over $1000. Heritage has decided to continue charging sales tax, except for individual coins that are priced over $1000, which contrary to Maryland law. Even after sending the tax department information from the Maryland Attorney General, the still refused to remove the sales tax on my purchase. It is bad enough that their buyers premiums exceed that of most other auction houses, but their decision to continue collecting sales tax is ludicrous. Every other auction house I deal with, including Ebay has removed the sales tax on these purchases. Heritage has lost me as customer. I will not be back.

When I called to complain about the customer service. The response was basically that is how they are and they are just too busy I take that to mean they just don't care

Insulting customer service.

Negotiated a 15% sellers on the basis of having to ship five bulky items from their London office to the USA which was initially fair enough. Then when I complained about my careless cataloguer (Hava Toobian) uploading images the wrong way round, missing accurate listing details , (even though I'd included all the information to them beforehand), and putting such a low reserve that we'd never agreed to in the contract; the Chief Executive shipped three of the largest items back to me and refused to enter them into future auctions as per my request. When I got the parcel back to the UK a COA For a Bob Dylan signed print was missing, I believe this was no honest mistake. So I've been charged 15% for a small print that was sent in a medium sized poster tube, and a small wooden box containing a bronze figurine because they refused to auction off my other lots against my wishes.
