24 hold on final exam failure is not acceptable for a paid course such as this. I understand you likely want the student to have time to brush up on the knowledge before attempting again, but it was super frustrating having to wait 24 hours due to schedule conflict.

The Private Pilot ground school was very good. It helped me to pass the PAR exam with a 90%, and I recommend it to anyone; however, the Instrument Ground School is lacking big time. I spend about 60 hours on the course - going through it slowly the first time and more quickly the second time. I passed all of the exams in the green. I did 7 or 8 practice exams, and probably 5 final exams, where I scored 88% to 95%. Despite all of this effort, I barely passed the IFR knowledge test today with a 75%. This should tell anyone that there is something off, big time, with this Gold Seal course.

I was unable to logon. Issues are perhaps related to Gmail and their spam filters. My password resets were not arriving or if arriving (more likely) they were being filtered out and deleted completely, not available even in the email trash bin. I'm guessing it has to do with the format for the emails coming in. There may be issues with popup and ad blockers. I wanted to try this and ultimately went with a different online school. To be fair, the president of the company and one of his staff tried to reach me. and I later got an email and called them back. They earnestly wanted to help fix the problem. I have a feeling they can't because the hosting web site (this is a guess on my part) has some poorly coded software. The bottom line is I was very upset that a simple process like logging on was impossible. I was freaking out that my computer was hacked and all my logons corrupted. Being able to logon should be transparent and simple to the user. It should not involve ANY issues. It should not require backflips on the part of the user to make the connection. It should be a breeze like it is on most web sites. I gave them one star and upgraded it to three stars based on their earnest efforts to help. I still chose another company, simply because I did not want to waste my valuable time solving a problem they should have addressed on their end.

This course was easy to navigate and follow along with the basic topics. However, the sections on Density, VOR, Performance Charts and Navigation left a lot to be desired. I actually found myself turning to YouTube videos to get through those sections for more extensive explanations. I ended up paying for an additional 2-day local in-person ground school test prep just so I could have the knowledge to even finish this course and be ready for the FAA exam.

The course is primarily talking and doesn’t use visuals very well. It also doesn’t take advantage of animation or interactive technology.

I passed with a score of 80 but was disappointed after the amount of study I did with Gold Seal. The FAA test had nothing on flight planning, which I was prepared for and had some questions on topics I never heard discussed in the Gold Seal training. Overall, I’m pleased with Gold Seal. I used them previously for my Part 107 UAV exam and scored in the 90s.

I consistently scored in the 90s on all of the quizzes and practice and final tests but only scored a 78 when I took my part 107 exam. The questions on the exam were worded in a much different way then through the study program. Although I passed 78% is nothing to be proud of on the certification exam.

I'm giving it three stars because they gave me the wrong information for my part 107. The test used 2018 version of the book. Gold Seal gave me 2016 test material to study.
