Thanks for the review! We’re glad to hear running a self-custody Lightning wallet with Alby Hub feels easy. And it sounds like Uncle Jim / creating sub-wallets helps spreading the Lightning love to the whole family!

Thanks for the great feedback! We’re happy to hear you’re enjoying creating your own self-custody Lightning address with Alby. Taking control of your sats while keeping things simple is exactly what we aim for!
Alby Hub is pretty good if you want to setup a self-custodial Lightning node.. BUT, they took it upon themselves to siphon off several thousand sats from my hub (supposed to be self-custodial), through the access you give them during standard setup. Why would they take sats they don't deserve? For a Lightning channel I never got 🤷♂️ Also, they offer incentives for (good?) reviews. Response to Alby's comment: I already contacted your "support" and they just brushed it off. Get lost, it's too late.

Hi Benoît, thanks for your positive note that Alby Hub is a pretty good tool to run a self-custodial Lightning node. We really appreciate it. We’re sorry to hear about your concerns and would like to clarify a few points: 1️⃣ Self-custody: Alby Hub is fully self-custodial. Only you control your Bitcoin. During setup, you explicitly grant Alby permission to deduct a monthly subscription fee, which covers hosting services and premium support. There is also a free plan, of course. 2️⃣ Lightning channel: Alby Hub does not automatically open a Lightning channel. It’s designed to make this step easy for you with just one click, but we intentionally require users to actively confirm by clicking “Open Channel.” We’d be happy to take a closer look at your specific case. Please reach out to us via support.getalby.com, and we’ll review the channel opening together. Best, The Alby Team
