Terrible experience getting Medicaid coverage for a loved one
My experience using Eldercare Resource Planning to obtain Medicaid benefits for my aunt has been most disappointing. During the intake their salespeople promise that "we will be with you every step of the way." If only that were true. What you can expect is to be provided with a document upload portal and a to-do list of documents and information you need to obtain, with no specific guidance or knowledge about how to obtain the necessary information. Step one: obtain Social Security Records. Book an appointment with the social security office and wait two months for an appointment. Take your loved one to the social security office to obtain the necessary statements. Scan and upload the statements. Get a terse email back from ERP stating that the statements are missing necessary information, so you have to repeat the process. Ask for clarification about what exactly you need to obtain. Receive a vague answer. Repeat this process with the Office of Personnel Management to receive statements for a late spouse's retirement benefits. Wait two months for the statements. Upload the statements only to be told you need a different type of statement. More vague answers about the information you need to obtain. You can expect that the agent assigned to your case will put the least amount of effort possible into each request for information. Be prepared to make multiple trips to the same agency to obtain information because your agent can't be bothered to think for five minutes about all of the information you need to obtain from each source. Emails go unanswered. Long wait times for responses. Your agents change throughout the process. Five thousand dollars spent and seven months and counting and we still can't submit my aunt's Medicaid application. I would be better off working with the nursing home directly to sign my aunt up for Medicaid benefits.
