Offering high quality 3 - 6 day cruises with a maximum of 12 guests on the historic Discovery in beautiful Prince William Sound, Alaska (just south of the largest Alaskan city, Anchorage). We do offer a handful of trips that incorporate Denali National Park as well. Prince William Sound encompasses 3,800 miles of coastline to explore via kayak and foot. The Sound is home to the densest concentration of tidewater glaciers in the world, containing 50 glaciers and 17 tidewater glaciers (touching the ocean), known for dramatically calving huge ice chunks into the sea. Enjoy spectacular views from sea level up to 13,000 ft mountain peaks. More than 220 species of birds (and around 200,000 seabirds summer in the Sound), along with 30 species of land mammals, and at least a dozen marine mammal species make this area quite special. Resident marine mammals include humpback, sei, fin, minke, killer whales, and dall's porpoise as well as Steller sea lions, harbor seals, and sea otters. In western Prince William Sound, black bears may be seen on narrow beaches and are most often seen fishing when the salmon are spawning.

It was a great experience for my wife and myself! Both the land and the boat parts of the trip, were full of beautiful views with a very flexible guide on land (Bill) and on water (Captain) which allowed to have unique experiences to watch the wild life. Food was very good and the facilities were confortable.

My wife and I booked our trip with Discovery about 6 weeks out and Meg was great providing us with all the info we needed in advance. Pick up and delivering us to Whittier was equally smooth and the crew were on hand to greet us when we arrived at the dock. Besides all of the magnificent places we visited over the next five days what will also last in our minds was how much the crew cared about giving us a great experience. Great communication from how things worked on board to answering endless questions about all that we were seeing and doing, and always with good humor. Captain Dean is a treasure and a walking encyclopedia of knowledge and enthusiasm for all things Alaska. He and and the crew (thanks Tori and Erin) share a deep concern for the precious Alaskan environment. They took us on all sorts of hiking and kayaking adventures that the big day cruisers could only dream about. Lastly, Megs meals were all 5-star worthy. What a great and unforgettable time. We will be back for sure. One more thing, be sure to take a quick swim!

If you want to really see Alaska take a Discovery Voyage trip. We went on the Denali/Prince William sound tour and it exceeded our expectations. Our guide on the land portion of the tour as well as the crew on the boat were knowledgeable and considerate. They took us to places that few people can access and which allowed us to appreciate the beauty, remoteness, and wildlife of Alaska. We slept in comfortable beds, ate fantastic meals, and had no issues sharing bathrooms with the other wonderful guests. Thank you Discovery Voyages for a trip of a lifetime!

This is an absolutely wonderful trip, with rain forest to explore, glaciers to climb and fjords to kayak among the "bergie bits." We saw plenty of sea-life, birds and land animals. I had always thought the goal was to keep away from the bears, rather than sneak up on them and follow them along the bear-trails. My memories of Alaska are those of the soggy moss, old-growth forests, salmon packed streams, back-floating otters and graceful jellyfish and daily rain. After the long-daylight hours of exploring we would retire to a great meal and wine, listen to stories from Cap'n and the crew and then talk and play board games with the passengers. This small-boat Discovery Voyages tour allows you to touch and feel Alaska rather than just watching it go by. What a week!

I have never been part of an experience that was so well-planned, so thoroughly enjoyable. I didn’t have to think about anything beyond living in the moment, yet it all worked so well as an educational, physical, culinary, and social adventure. I was worried about seasickness, but it was never even close to becoming an issue.

This cruise was truly amazing and nothing short of spectacular…my wife said it was the best vacation she has ever been on in her life Dean, Meg Tori and Erin we’re phenomenal people who always put their guests first and the treatment was first class just like the scenery. Cannot recommend this cruise highly enough! You will be taken to places where every view is a postcard on glaciers, on kayaks, among icebergs…..and if you’ve never seen a glacier collapse into the ocean and the thunderstorm roar that comes with it, well standby for the viewing of a lifetime. You will never forget this experience. The ship is so cool in its own right AND the food is to die for! GO! You will not regret it!
